re: Britney Spears to join GREASE Company?

I never thought I'd say this but if this is true, I just might have to return to this trainwreck of a show to see this (bound to be) trainwreck of a performance.

Be sure to check out this clip to hear what she sounds like during concerts where she dances!! Cracked me up/made me cry a little.

I love Britney, but this is not where she is right now. She hasn't even done a sitdown interview in front of cameras in the last 2 years--she can't handle doing a Broadway show.

This is a RUMOR! No one here knows anything and the likelihood of this being true is slim to none.

I am finding the reactions to this rumor very funny however!

It's official. The world is ending. And yet I am thoroughly intrigued...

I'm starting a David Ian hate thread.

I mean, I would see her just to experience how bad it is, but come on. This is a new low.

re: Britney Spears to join GREASE Company?

I have to admit that having Britney in the show would be a most entertaining trainwreck to witness. I would gladly pay full price to see her make a spectacle out herself in the role of Sandy. If for no other reason, to see just how bad she is.

I seem to remember her being courted a few years ago by the producers of the Sweet Charity revival to replace Christina Applegate. Thankfully the negotiations fell through!

"Chris Crocker for Rizzo!"

haha YES. LEAVE SANDY ALONE!

in all seriousness, though the rumor is most likely false, if this were true i may have to do two things. a: go see that train wreck. and b: slap the casting directors silly. To put it nicely, that is.

OMG. Britney has been reading this thread the entire time.... maybe you guys should think about what you say, before you post it.

Look at what you did to her.

This, however, is beyond stunt casting. This girl has nothing to offer in terms of an over-produced pop moron. It's an insult to people who actually work on their craft.

You know what she does have to offer? Ticket sales. Her entering the cast is the very definition of stunt casting! She'll create buzz for the show and make it into a can't-miss event. You and I may not like it, but this is nothing new. If you want a place to display your well-honed craft, Broadway isn't necessarily the best place for it nowadays. Most of the best work is happening in regional theaters anyway.

Just a thought."

I'd see GREASE like eighty times if Britney was in. :]
