HOH has an angel investor keeping it open for the sake of the art/message, though; I don't think Torch Song has the same.

I find the angel investor so dumb. Like I get that they want to keep it open for the message but barley anyone are going? So no one is really getting the message

I too badly want this to do well. When I was in NYC last November, it was my impression that it was next to impossible to get tickets for the off-broadway production plus I had already crammed 6 shows into 5 days. The movie was one of the first “gay” films I ever saw - on VHS. And I loved Urie in Buyer and Cellar (he remains one of my top “stage door” experiences). There’s a slight chance that I might be in NYC early next year for work and so want to see this!
I do think that the difference between this and The Boys in the Band is that TBITB had a who’s who of popular gay actors (Quinto, Parsons, Bomer, Carver...) and as much as I adore Michael Urie (and Mercedes Ruehl), they are not household names in enough households. I do hope buzz and reviews can help this production attract the audience it deserves. And I hope I get to see it.
While TBITB isn’t exactly Albee or O’Neill or Kushner, it was thrilling to see this show about men in a less open time being portrayed by out-and-proud men in the presence of a largely out-and-proud audience of gay men. Based on conversations with my seatmates, many of us had traveled from far and near to experience it. It was invigorating. I wish the same for Torch Song.

I agree. It is a great show, finally saw it last Labor Day weekend. I love it when a show that is original material finds success on Broadway.

Its modest audiences notwithstanding, HOH could possibly rack up a pretty decent run performance-wise; due to this apparent "angel".

To keep the actors/musicians/crew employed? To help the value of the property for stock/amateur licensing or touring? To not damage the value of the GoGos as a musical group? The glimmer of hope that maybe the updated ad campaign and word-of-mouth could have turned sales around?
It's a pipedream to make money off this show, but they're surely not the first nor the last person to try to keep a flop alive. Remember how In Transit ran 5 months/145 perfs?

Yeah Beautiful has had a real uplift these past few weeks - is there any particular reason for it (new main lead etc)? Summer business is not always that great tho. Sure there's more tourist traffic but locals tend to stay away more and tickets are often discounted during the summer (especially the end of it).

Sorry to bump/double post, but I just noticed that The Band's Visit was available on TodayTix today, with dates through December. Anyone have any insight into that? Is it not selling well or are they just trying to get a little bump for the holidays? Their numbers are pretty good, so I was just curious.
