Sorry but I am going to have to call you out on this. Do yourself a favor: make a list of the shows that support your thesis over the last, say, 5 or 10 years. When you realize you have a blank sheet of paper, feel free to promise us that henceforth you will think first so as to avoid the embarrassment of posting incorrect info. We will all think way more of you for your courage.

Slave Play got 12 nominations and 0 wins
A Strange Loop got 11 nominations and only 2 wins (although it did, of course, take top prize)
Lehman Trilogy continuously beat out several progressive shows all night this year.
I can admit that it's a pretty recent issue, but I feel like it's been a pretty big point of conversation recently that the opinions of the nominators and voters seem to have diverged. Have you been MIA for that whole conversation?
Can you really type in good faith that you think that the old white people who give out Tony awards are not going to connect with Leopoldstadt more Aint No Mo or Fat Ham?
Hard to imagine Stoppard doesnt win for likely his last new play on Broadway that proved to be a runaway hit.

Slave Play lost to.....The Inheritance.
Lehman Trilogy beat....Skeleton Crew? Clyde's? What progressive piece did the voters eschew there?
And A Strange Loop *did* win over more traditional stuff like Mr Saturday Night and Paradise Square.
Im not dismissing that theres a marked difference between the smaller subset of nominators vs the wider voting body (who are more focused on commercial success, and touring options), but i think drawing that line at progressive/nonprogressive is a bit strange. It SOUNDS like you are conflating "progressive" with "plays explicitly about race" but even there, your examples dont really hold up.
and the hostile response is off the charts

Sorry but you have done it again. Unless (as noted in a post above) you use progressive as a euphemism for black, Inheritance is progressive, I do not see any major categories (i.e., I think it is silly to treat the design categories as progressive or not; it's really about budget) in which Lehman beat a progressive show unless of course progressive just means the winning actor was black. And as you say ASL won the only prize that matters. Who correlates lighting design to progressivism?
BTW people who engage in scholarship instead of posting fake info on here don't find the need to call me names.

Honestly? Fair enough. I'm a mature person who can recognize solid points different fro my own and change my opinion. I was thinking pretty specifically of social issues and not necessarily about form.
I do still think Fat Ham and Aint No Mo will get a lot of nominations and not a lot of wins and I do still think Strange Loop lost a fair amount of awards to shows that were much less progressive on social issues.
All that being said, don't come for me for an "off the charts" hostile response when I quoted Hogan almost word for word. He decided to be aggressively hostile to me for no reason at all and I'm not going to let him be an ass to me.
Thank YOU for being able to respectfully point out why you disagree with me.

Fat Ham and Aint No Mo are 100% nominations bait, but it's hard to see them beating Leopoldstadt for Best Play.
However, the only other play category I think you can really predict is Jodie Comer for best actress. There are just SOOOO many plays this season that it becomes so hard to make predictions with any amount of confidence.

Either way, Piano Lesson is a revival and there is no chance Danielle Brooks is beating Jodi Comer."
I am thinking that Brooks is maybe not even getting nominated. She got mixed reviews as I recall and to me it seems like a supporting role, or at least it felt like one to me.

Never occurred to me that Brooks could be considered a lead. I thought she was solid but in a very supporting role.
