I'd like to publicly thank the Hello Dolly dip for my premium seat being reduced to regular price.
Margaritaville and SpongeBob are not in great shape.
Consistently amazed that Carousel is doing over $1M each week.

I'm guessing the drop in Cursed Child's grosses is due to press comps?
Will Children of a Lesser God finish its run?

Well, if it makes you less amazed, that million dollars still leaves them in stop clause territory. It's a beloved show with something of a built in audience out of the box. But the demand is soft and that's reflected in the weak prices and grosses. A million in the Imperial is not good enough.

Apologies to the cast (I don't want them to be out of work!) but it brings me such satisfaction to see Margaritaville doing so poorly. Hopefully this is a lesson: don't fund such garbage.
Frozen dropped attendance wise but ended up edging ahead of Wicked.
I still wonder if A PLAY THAT GOES WRONG will make it until August.

But aren't we always talking every week about how the gross is really what matters, not the percentage? I'm guessing their weekly nut is well below a million - though maybe I'm wrong about that - but if so, what does it matter how much more they COULD be making as long as they are above their nut?

Mean Girls!??? Wow. The power of Tina Fey!

If you only pay the minimal payment on your credit card bill every month, you're never going to pay off your card.
If you invest in a show, you aren't really concerned that the show cover its operating costs week after week, but actually begin to return its investment.
Wonder how much that snl plug will help mean girls. Lol.

Unless they can add more seats to the house, none.

yes, and that's true week to week, but I was meaning in relation to the prognosis. When the demand is weak, especially in a big theatre, that affects pricing (already averaging less than $100), and this is a warning flag. When I said "not good enough," I am speaking the way a parent speaks of a child who is getting C's - the kid is not in danger of being held back, but the prospects of getting into an Ivy League school are kinda dim. When you are the proud papa of Hello Dolly, you don't want to follow it up with something that seems more like On The Town.
@Hogan: gotcha. That makes sense.
@Haterobics: I’m aware of that, but as I already said in my first post - I would guess that the weekly running cost is significantly under a million dollars, and if so, then they would be grossing more than just the bare minimum. Again, I might be wrong, and the running cost actually IS close to a million/week - but I did not suggest that grossing the bare minimum is sustainable.
also remember that $1mil is actually $900k, and not much of that is going to be available to investors. So without some sea change in fortunes, it would seem this would have to slog along (without falling any more!) for over a couple of years to recoup, and I don't think it seems even that sustainable. But now we can all hide and watch.

Hopefully this is a lesson: don't fundsuch garbage." You can't have it both ways: apologizing on one hand and then expressing satisfaction that Margaritaville is doing so poorly. While I'm not really familiar with this particular musical, all shows try their best and hope that people show up at their theatre. Their aim is to try...and keep on trying until they cannot hold out anymore. The show itself is not garbage....only your blowhard satisfaction to wish the demise of a show (conveniently ignoring the fact that many people depend on it). Any theatrical investment is a risk. I hope Margaritaville eventually finds an audience. But, if it doesn't, you had absolutely zero to do with that.
What has been happening with the Band's Visit?

Who knows? I personally found the show to be boring, but I can appreciate the talent and the show itself. Maybe others are finding it boring as well?
I am sure that it is going to pick up after Tony Nominations and Awards, and it may close by the end of this year.
The Band's Visit is also probably the frontrunner for the Tony.

OK so you are not familiar with the show but you can state with authority that it is not garbage. LOL
All shows do hope people will show up, but it is ludicrous to say that all shows try their best. Quite a few shows are exercises in laziness, and if you knew the first thing about this one, we could have a conversation about whether this one fits in that category or not.

I hate to correct you dear . But the show is garbage designed to take advantage of white trash tourists.
The band's visit is doing fiiiine. Their costs are low and it's till doing very well for an obscure new musical.
