Hopefully this is a lesson: don't fundsuch garbage." You can't have it both ways: apologizing on one hand and then expressing satisfaction that Margaritaville is doing so poorly. While I'm not really familiar with this particular musical, all shows try their best and hope that people show up at their theatre. Their aim is to try...and keep on trying until they cannot hold out anymore. The show itself is not garbage....only your blowhard satisfaction to wish the demise of a show (conveniently ignoring the fact that many people depend on it). Any theatrical investment is a risk. I hope Margaritaville eventually finds an audience. But, if it doesn't, you had absolutely zero to do with that.

I hate to correct you dear . But the show is garbage designed to take advantage of white trash tourists.

The band's visit is doing fiiiine. Their costs are low and it's till doing very well for an obscure new musical.

Then what's the disconnect? There are certainly enough of those wandering around Times Square not knowing what to do with themselves...

Slacker boys meet uptight girls. Slacker boys fall for uptight girls. Slacker boys lose uptight girls and then go get them back. And there's dancing with cheeseburgers.

I'd be amazed if he doesn't take the stage at some point before it closes.

I think he could take over as JD if they age up the love interest. I know men his age date girls in their 20s, but if she were older it would certainly make it less icky to the audience.
I can more see him taking the small role of the older man and then doing 2-3 songs after curtain call.

I predict a run for Band's Visit similar to Fun Home. It's a tiny show that maybe won't appeal to everyone, but it will win a ton of major Tonys including leading actress, score, direction, and the most important best musical. At which point, it will run for another solid year and a half or two, letting everyone in New York and outside of it that wants to see it see it. And yes, to echo others' sentiments, grosses will pick up gainfully after nominations and then more so after the awards themselves.

Yeah, that would make sense, actually.
