Holy...American Idiot!
SH*Tty week for many shows.
What the hell happened this week? It was a beautiful week. Nothing should have hurt any show... Bye Bye Next Fall!

Wow, these are terrible! Especially Hair! This is probably its lowest weekly gross ever. It looks like Next to Normal is barely making its weekly nut, which is somewhere around $230,000, I believe. South Pacific and West Side Story were also very low. I think part of the reason these shows didn't do as well is probably because all of the tourists from memorial day weekend have left, now. These grosses should pick back up in the summer.

Does anyone know American Idiot's weekly nut? All I can say is, man that must hurt...what the hell.
Wow, these (and especially AMERICAN IDIOT's) are not good at all. But good for PROMISES PROMISES for not going below the $1MIL mark for 6 weeks already!
I guess the producers of the Evita revival will get their wish with putting the production in the Palace.
^ Grandage told Playbill that Evita will not be happening next season.

American Idiot was empty yesterday afternoon. I'm not surprised by this gross at all.
I am surprised by Fela, which was almost completely full last night, save for ten seats. I really thought it would have a higher percentage than it did.

What the hell happened? Is the Week of Memorial Day this bad every year?
Besides the stalwarts, that was just a horrific week.
this is probaly the lowest we'll see these grosses until September. Schools are starting to let out for the summer and I would think these numbers should slowly start to climb.
American Idiot made US$ $612,380. More than most shows on Broadway. Why is everyone freaking out?

Because they went down $250K & 25% attendance.

Can't see HAiR sticking around much longer. Do you think they'll try to hold out through the summer and then close? They haven't been above 80% capacity in 9 weeks.
I don't know how much of an effect it had on the grosses, but Alice Ripley was out of n2n last night.
Schools were having graduations last week. I bet that made a difference.

I don't think "Hair" will make it past September. I think "Sister Act" is going to play at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in spring 2011.

School graduations (including colleges/universities as well as high schools in other parts of the country) have been going on since mid-May. I don't think that's it...

I have a friend who works at Telecharge, and he told me that traditionally, the week after Memorial day is one of the weakest weeks in the year. Not sure why, but that undoubtedly explains the pronounced drop almost everywhere.

I guess shows like "Promises, Promises" and "Addams Family" get GREAT word of mouth from audience members and that is what has been making their grosses so strong. Critcs don't really matter.

muscle23ftl, Because the theater it is in (St. James) is one of the largest on Broadway and for that theater that is a small amount of money.

American Idiot's weekly nut is around $420k, so they still made almost $200k over that. Yeah, it sucks that their grosses went down 25%, but it seems that almost all the shows had ****ty weeks.
