Good week all around! Glad to see Prom and Beetlejuice increase! Hope a huge post tony jump is coming both of their ways.

Ouch for Waitress though.... I didn’t realize Jeremy Jordan was such a draw

An absolutely devastating week for Frankie & Johnny. The grosses went up minimally, but to be playing to 40% capacity the week after opening to strong reviews is rough. A number of shows look like they might have to cut their limited runs short (Hillary & Clinton, Gary, Frankie & Johnny). And it's surprising to me that Beetlejuice and Tootsie are struggling as much as they are--their numbers aren't dire, but they're weak for shows that opened to good reviews and a ton of awards attention.

And then Beautiful and Waitress...two of my favorite long-running shows. I just don't know how much longer they have in them or how much more stunt casting they can pull off to keep things going. Time will tell!
It's almost end of the day and am glad no show has announced closure yet.

I'd expect if any post today, it'll come around 5:30-6 to try to get buried in the rush hour news/commutes.

If a show needs to post for this Sunday, they have to tell the cast before the first performance of the week, so expect one or two tomorrow more likely.

With the helicopter crashing on top of a building in midtown today any show closing announcement will already be ignored anyway.

Has Gary announced yet? I can see a couple. BMC is still not great but they'll definitely try to stay alive for the summer crowds which should start arriving next week, if they show up of course. Joe Iconis begging people on twitter to inform ppl that BMC was the originator of the Tonys opening number is pretty hilarious, though.
Waitress will probably not make it past 2019, and Kong is doomed as well. Prom is somewhat improving. Beetlejuice needs to get numbers up quick.
Do shows really announce closings so quickly after the Tonys?

If they didn't win at the Tony's, some shows do.

The cast is typically told at the theatre about 45 mins before the show, and the press release would go out immediately after. So, if there's going to be a closing notice posted today (or this week, or any time), expect it between 6:30 and 7:30.
They notify actors that close to curtain? Logistically that makes sense, but I never thought about it before. Damn, it must be tough for them to get through that show. I know Broadway actor are real pros, and they’ll almost always give the audience what they paid for, but that has to bring down the energy somewhat.
I don't understand Waitress. Trying to take my bestie in a few weeks, half the theatre is empty and they are charing $300 a pop for half the orchestra.

It seems like there's no "good" way to inform everyone. If Rudin's closing GARY or HILLARY early, he could probably just make phonecalls because the casts are so small and they're old pros. With a big show like THE PROM or BMC or KONG, they might not reach all the actors by phone, and then word spreads like wildfire. Telling them after the show could be tough if people have guests and the crew is trying to clean up. I don't know when the practice began, but I'd guess it's been done this way for decades.
Raul Esparza talked in an interview about how weird the first COMPANY performance after the Tonys in 2007 was. The production had won Best Revival, but he lost, and they posted the closing notice that night.

Not sure where the seats are located but waitress is running a Buy one get one $10 promo at the moment.
Beautiful & Waitress have had healthy runs, it's time for them to pack it up. There's no way King Kong, Be More Chill or the Prom last past Labor Day.
Cher Show numbers are still pretty dismal. Someone said it was selling well on the weekends, but I had a friend there last week and mezz was empty. it cant be cheap to run.
The 2 for 1 Waitress deal is only till 6/16. They have another deal but not for Saturday night.

Of course there is. All it takes is someone with deep pockets and a few cards missing from their deck.

I hope Waitress can hold out with more stunt casting. It's still in great shape. Though with the tour, I can't really argue you need to see the Broadway production.
I still haven't decided if I want to see The Cher Show.
Having seen Gary, I think they should just cut their losses and let those actors move on to better projects. Though they seemed to be having fun in the show.
