I agree. Sad to see that it's dropped out of the million club, but it's not bad at all considering it's post-Groban. Also, I know the gross is what really matters, but it's still encouraging to see it coming in at 98% capacity. People still want to see it, even if they're not all paying top dollar for it.

One week Groundhog Day is up, the next week its down, and then its up again. And A Dolls House is slaying the game! Its come a long way

Don't know how much difference it'll make in the long term, but I'm glad to see a slight uptick for Groundhog Day.

Isn't interesting how differently people can read the same thing? I interpreted Jarethan's word like "Laura's Tony winning performance brought the people to the theater and now that she's gone the show will loose steam."

Only Jarethan can clarify which he meant

I read it the same way as you. I read it like she was the draw and now the show could be in trouble. Not like she up and said "peace" because she had her Tony now

Glad that Groundhog Day is up this week, even if it's small....

Hell, if On Your Feet could stay alive as long as it did with it's weekly numbers, average price, and attendance, then hopefully GHD can make it through to New Year's Day. One can only hope...

1. They are buying RESALE (where the seller sets the price.)

2. They are buying tickets for a future date, and therefore not yet come into play. In other words, tickets for 400+ performances haven't happened yet.

I remembered that Beautiful broke the rules last summer, and that business was down over the summer. Looked quickly, and that does seem to have been the case. So, this is the second summer in a row. Is it possible that it is a net loser from all the new shows that open in May; from the time the hangers-on start closing around Labor Day, business seem to improve. Interesting, though not exhaustive, analysis.

It is also going to be interesting to see what happens with A Bronx Tale. It is doing worse in the summer than the rest of the run. Either business is going to pick up in the fall -- assuming GHD, War Paint, Miss Saigon and Bandstand close -- or it was naturally petering off and business will go down further post-Labor Day.

Nope, neither of these apply. Someone posted about buying a premium ticket on Telecharge for the evening show on Saturday, 7/22. He paid $464 ($450 + fees). As far as what I've seen with my own eyes, there were some $425 tickets available on Telecharge for the matinee on 7/22, and I'm assuming that they sold at that price, since they were gone relatively quickly. I'll go with HogansHero's reason, that they just didn't bother to adjust the number.

That could be a possible explanation. When it first happened last summer, I remember wondering whether it was due to less business travelers (vs. tourists) because Beautiful is the perfect business traveller show. Will be interesting to see.
