Love Donna. So glad she decided to go back to the stage instead of law school.

I knew Evita would tank without Ricky. Elena's vacation next week is not helping advance sales, either.
No one is buying tickets to see Evita because of Elena Roger. It's Ricky Martin, and Ricky Martin alone, who is selling the show.
Though I was a bit upset about Jackie being gone because I heard she sings and acts the part very well. I saw Donna Vivino in her place. She was great as well. I don't know why they were out, because they were both at the matinee.
Richard H. Blake was out of the matinee on Saturday. Jackie Burns was not.

Richard H. Blake was out of the matinee on Saturday. Jackie Burns was not. He was? Oops! They were both out that night though I know for sure.
They all call me a troll. Ok, call me a troll. If I stand on my own, so be it.

Lesson learned for all those on here who claim revivals do not need big name stars to draw crowds.

The only people buying tickets to see Elena are Argentine tourists who want to see their home town chica. The show lost way more than $50,000 last week but Max and Daniel made out well getting 1/8 of Ricky's salary for each performance. The gross would have been much less if unsuspecting ticket buyers knew that they could get refunds cause little Ricky was out and if the TKTS BO people told buyers that he was out.

Well End of the Rainbow will probably close late August at some point, it will probably make it through the summer, but I don't see it lasting past labor day at the latest. Based on how it sold at the Guthrie in Minneapolis before it's transfer to Broadway, I would be willing to bet that it will be MUCH more successful as a touring production.
Wow for Evita, even with Martin out, those numbers are disturbing. Really meaning that the show lives and dies with him. I would guess the show will close the beginning of January. (I know a lot can happen).
Peter, you could see that coming, but the numbers are still VERY strong. For Nice work: is Broderick on Vacation yet? Regardless the numbers aren't too bad. And Harvey is really doing fantastic.
Streetcar won't last till the fall. And Once stays above the Million mark, wow.

I don't think people can get refunds if a lead is out on a scheduled vacation. If it was just a random night then yes, but it was announced long before the performance that he'd be out.

^I think that may be the case as well. It was announced and prominently stated on Ticketmaster.

"I find it suprising that LION KING and WICKED both went down in attendance, but still got the 2 highest grosses this week. I think the attendance at WICKED at least partially went down because on Saturday night both Jackie Burns (Elphaba) and Richard H. Blake (Fiyero) were both out."
Jackie and Richard being out had nothing to do with attendance drops. Understudies are announced only a couple of hours before curtain so you don't know who is on until you get to the theatre. Donna Vivino was on tour and also stood-by on tour prior to getting lead. She opted to become the stand-by here on Broadway and requested to not be listed in the playbill (or on the website, cast-inserts, etc.) When she performs, the piece of paper (which you received) is placed inside the playbills.

Understudies do NOT get 1/8 of the salary for each performance they do. They get their regular salary as always, plus a small stipend. And I do mean SMALL.

And the incremental bump they get for performances is based on their own salary, not the salary of the person they are in for.

I was also under the impression than understudies make an extra 1/8th of either their salary or of that they are filling in for in addition to their normal salary. Guess I was wrong, too.

Sorry, I was thinking of the rules of a different contract (which is why it's always good to consult the rulebook when in the actual situation).
An understudy does receive 1/8th of their own contractual salary for each performance they do. IF they are understudying a star with over the title billing and they are making LESS than $300 over the contractual minimum then they must be paid at LEAST $300 for each performance. The minimum (until October 1, when it goes up to $1754) is currently $1703, so if either of Ricky's understudies are making less than $2003 they will get $300 per performance. If they are making more than that then they will get 1/8th of their salary.
Understudies also get a small bump each week for each role that they are covering. An understudy who is performing in the show in another role is only allowed to cover three principal roles. A non-performing understudy can cover up to 5 roles, but they only get the bump in their weekly salary for the fourth and fifth role that they cover.

HUGE drop for Evita. Looks like Ricky Martin is a MAJOR draw for the production. Good think they have had good numbers prior to this week, and probably will in the coming weeks since Ricky Martin will be on.
When I see the show I am tempted to grab a ticket for a show he is out... Looks like I could save a lot of money and get a better seat. I am probably one of the few people that could care less about Ricky Martin, but MUST see Elena Roger.

^When are you planning to finally come to the city? You've been praising Ms. Roger for a while now, shame you haven't seen the show with her yet. One of the few positive voices here for the Argentine dynamo!
