LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!

Posted: 7/9/07 at 6:13pmYou have to remember, it's not really the percentages that count. It's the gross. They need to make X amount over their weekly nut to make a profit. Plus, with LEGALLY BLONDE they have product placement. So, they are getting paid just to run the show weekly.

Posted: 7/9/07 at 8:08pmReally, doc? I never thought they actually got paid royalties for using such product placement. I'm suprised some of that stuff isn't sold there in the lobby.

Posted: 7/9/07 at 8:09pmLegally Blonde, with all it's product placement and all(as broadway doc), is going to survive at least another year, and will most probably get all it's money back. C'mon! Hal Luftig is producer...

Posted: 7/9/07 at 10:44pmCongratulations to BEAUTY AND THE BEAST for having a strong closing month (and hitting the million mark!). It's good to see that although the show went astray, they're finishing out strong :)

Rentboy86, that is what product placement is. Do you think BroadwayWorld just randomly puts up ads for MediaFast Weight Loss or Wal-Mart? This companies buy ad space, just as they do in a Motion Picture, TV Show and now it seems, a Broadway Show to get extra money from corporate companies.
If you do a search, someone gives a ball park figure on how much LEGALLY BLONDE brings in each week in just the product placement deals alone.
I thought massofmen wasn't going to post anymore?

Posted: 7/10/07 at 8:57amLegally Blonde is probably making MORE money from advertising than it is from ticket sales. Lol...

Posted: 7/10/07 at 11:47amLove the steady numbers for A Chorus Line. Three straight weeks of $600K+ in grosses & 90%+ in attendance. Even though the average ticket for ACL keeps dropping, they keep packing them in for every show.

i agree legally blonde will start bringing in the big bucks at the box office since its tourist season and all. I am happy for disney but tarzan was only getting loads of people into the theatre since it closed on sunday.
Legally Blonde is one of the best shows on broadway.

Is there hope for Drowsy? I have yet to see it and I was hoping to.
Nice to see a lot of the show up for the week.
Tourists are flocking into seats to beat the heat!

Of course there's hope for Drowsy - especially if people who hope to see it actually do so - (nudge, nudge, hint hint). I think it will continue to pick up as other shows close - GG, 110, Tarzan etc.

I think Drowsy will pick up when Mari takes on the role. I wish I liked the Poster better and the slogan but Mari looks stunning and it seems like she has rep. on Broadway?
It needs a little more PR but you really must see it. It is such a charming angle and very close to home. Just to see Beth Leavel, Troy Britton, Danny Burstein, it is just a stunning Cast of Characters. So much fun. I hope the enthusiasm has held up.
How is the show with Glover?
On another note, is Broadway always this slow in the Summer? It seems only a few shows are really drawing a crowd and I thought it would bring up the numbers more?
