Wow...that is a noticeable drop for Chicago....but not as severe as other shows.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Is it just me or did the summer bump not happen this year, other than maybe for School  of Rock, which may have benefitted from the Tony telecast.  The numbers are very lackluster, other than the same ones at the top as a year ago (and, minus Hamilton, three years ago).

Does anyone know if tourism stats are down for this summer, or is it just that the only thing they want to see in NY are shows that are already touring the country (or about to).  Don't get it at all.

I agree with what you are saying, i also feel like a lot of these numbers are lackluster this summer. On Your Feet and Something Rotten really could be doing better. That being said i feel like this summer doesn't have a huge variety of shows imo.

It looks like waitress' capacity is slowly going down. It seems they aren't selling out as much has they used to.

I feel like there's no shows (except Hamilton and I don't know how hot it is nowadays) that anyone feels like they have to see. And there's nothing new for the older lady tour groups to get them here for 5 days. Broadway feels like a ghost town to me. There's literally nothing I want to see that I haven't already seen.

I know they are still doing good, but if you look at the past week their capacity numbers are going down.

On Your Feet just had its worst week yet and is about to hit the bottom of the Gross % of Potential at 42%. It never recouped and is now losing several hundred thousand dollars a week. How much longer can it last?

For as long as Gloria and Emilio throw their own money at it...

I must say that I've been surprised by the On Your Feet attendance. Like many, I thought it would do great summer business. Perhaps they did some special outreach to Latino groups and other promotions in the fall and winter to fill the house in the slow months and stopped in the summer, assuming that tourists would take up the slack.

Whatever the cause, it's a surprise to me. (Yeah, I agree with the weakness in the show itself, but it seemed to be a real crowd pleaser - including when we saw it in May)

Agreed, I expected to see On Your Feet to do steady numbers throughout the year but it dipped much quicker than anticipated. I guess hype has moved on from the show. I'm sure we will see a different tenant in the Marquis come spring.

the summer bump is a kid's bump. the results are utterly consistent with that. Some of the other shows like SR and FN have exceeded expectations but have run their course. "older lady tour groups" are not a summertime thing-it is too hot.

And dear god, HOW is Jersey Boys NOT posting a closing notice yet?!?!? Yes it's had an amazing 10+year run, yes they've recouped... But my god, playing to empty houses must be terrible for the actors...

The producers of JB and OYF have millions to burn through.  Losing a few hundred thousand dollars a week is like us losing $100.  JB is still running commercials and have a lot of new adverts in the subway.  I like the show because the story is gritty and the music is classic.  I am not a fan of Gloria's music and was dragged to OYF and thought it stunk aside from the great choreography.  Her music while popular 30 years ago, doesn't hold up well and  they took all of the grit out of the story.  She, and her music to me are dull. How the show got good reviews is another "HUH"?  The only have to see musical this season is you know what.....and other than that,  money is tight,  No one is going to spend $149 on Cats!  The Latinos kept Evita running because and only because of Ricky Martin...funny- OYF started to drop grosses after Gloria's embarrassing appearance on the Tonys.

It's probably in on your feets favor that the producer is also the theatre owner

empty houses consisting of 6000 people a week. Interesting definition. And absurd.

Oh and they are not in huge financial trouble with those numbers. Look elsewhere for your freakout.

I've asked some people who would be considered a target demographic for OYF and they all answer in some form of "if I'm spending $100 I'm going to Gloria's concert".

Jersey Boys has stuck around this long; it ain't going anywhere soon, in my opinion.

On Your Feet! and Rotten! continue to not look good...

I don't think that would get you a very good seat at her shows....

Sadly, ON YOUR FEET just isn't that interesting of a show. Estefan hasn't had some crazy life. She met a man, became a singer, got in a bus accident, now she's fine. That's about all the show is. And the music isn't that....theaterical... so it doesn't really work. Jersey Boys has a more interesting the story and the music has a broad appeal.

The real story of the Estefans is much more grittier and interesting than the fabricated nonsense used as their story in ON YOUR FEET!   Even ignoring the simplest detail of Gloria sporting a boyish short mullet haircut for most of her early career tells you how much she's altered things.  Or the drama involved with the dismissal of her original vocal partner (her cousin) and her band member husband when Emilio decided to make Gloria the lead solo singer. So much more juicier drama is part of their history than that sanitized and altered crap seen on stage.
