Can't wait to see DEH perform you will be found tomorrow.
Oh I love Broadway week on the Today Show!! Have they announced who is going to be on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday?
Quite enjoyed the Amelie performance! Definitely thinking I need to add it to my trip because I don't think it will hold out for long..

I'm glad they did that number from the show because it incorporated the whole cast. N2nbaby, if you do catch Amelie, keep an eye on that ensemble. They work very hard in every scene and are terrific with it.
Plus, any dance sequence with umbrellas automatically gets points in my book. Hehe

In case people missed the DEH performance this morning: https://www.broadwayworld.com/videoplay/VIDEO-Ben-Platt-Cast-of-DEAR-EVAN-HANSEN-Perform-You-Will-Be-Found-on-Today-20170425
I loved the DEH performance. It sounded great. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the staging, though. Not for me personally, because I don't have a problem with watching people singing at mikes. But I think more Broadway pizzazz would have been nice for the TV audience. But I guess the technical aspects of DEH can't be easily reproduced in the studio. Ben Platt is a treasure.
What I really loved that I believe all the understudies performed too! Right?

Well, the Amelie performance makes me now want to see it. Really enjoyed it. Love the music.
I loved how they staged this. Powerful.

The DEH performance was fantastic and raised a question I had never considered. I loved that they utilized the understudies and was left wondering if they actually sing backstage and/or on the recording. Maybe this is a stupid question but "You Will Be Found" in particular - both live and on the recording - sounds so rich and lush that during the performance I was surprised that so few people could create such a full sound on stage. So seeing and hearing the understudies today made me wonder if that's going on during performances as well, just behind the scenes. At least at the performance I was at, all of the understudies were there (not in the show but they all exited stagedoor) so now I'm curious. Again, could be a stupid thought.
If this is called "The best of Broadway", I would have loved to see Come From Away scheduled.
Anyway, I'm very curious to see the rest of the performances, and the two that have aired already were very nice.

They all sing on the recording, as well as other people not in the cast. Jenn Colella, for example. I believe there were 8-10 names besides hers listed on the DEH cast recording that are featured.
I'm not sure if the understudies sing backstage. When I saw the show, I definitely noticed that You Will Be Found did not sound at all close to the way it is on the recording, so I would guess that they do not sing along backstage.

Oh duh - I could have looked at the credits! Thank you Eliza2! I actually did think it sounded as full live - or at least more full than I would have expected from the size of the cast- maybe that's a better way to put it - and obviously with a recording so much can be done in post that it's not a fair comparison. It almost sounded like a backing chorus track during the show but I would not expect that for a show of this caliber (and am definitely not suggesting they have one which is why the understudy question popped into my head). Either way, they sound fabulous together.

I don't know if this is any indication, but at the beginning of the Evan Hansen video on the Today Show website both the Anastasia and Groundhog Day logos appear during the introduction.
Yeah. Tomorrow is Anastasia, Thursday is Groundhog Day and Friday is Great Comet

Same! I had zero interest in the show until I saw that clip. Phillipa is delightful.
I want a studio recording of this version of You Will Be Found. The cast album version has the whole social media "post - share - retweet - have you seen this? - thank you Evan Hansen for..." bit all through the song which personally find irritating. It works in the context of the show but good God why couldn't we get a bonus track with just the song? The dialogues in this track don't work/are not necessary for the song's survival.
I will always prefer "Journey to the Past" over "December," so I'm glad they went with that one for this. Christy looks so delighted to be playing this role!
I really wish news outlets and websites would stop calling it an adaptation of the animated movie. They're just setting people up for confusion.

I love how Christy is always so excited

I'm assuming once the Tony nominations come out, COME FROM AWAY will make the rounds on all the talk shows.

Those additional vocal credits on the album are the "virtual community voices" saying things like "like, share, retweet, thank you Evan Hansen." That's how they're credited in the show's Playbill as well--they're not singing on any tracks.

I saw an interview with Jenn Colella where she said they were also singing.

That is incorrect. They provided pre-recorded background vocals on several songs, as well.
