im also interested to hear how she is as morticia
Any reviews?
I bought tickets last night at TKTS completely forgetting it was her first night. I thought she was an excellent Morticia. She was very funny and probably the best part of the show. The audience was going crazy for her throughout the whole night and it was a mob scene at the stage door.
I am still on the fence about seeing this show.
Was there too and Brooke was pretty rough around the edges. I realize it was her first night, so I'll let her off the hook a bit, but there were definitely some interesting notes being sung during "Where Did We Go Right?" It's also hard to blame Brooke when a joke didn't land because the book is just so terrible.
They've made a bunch of minor changes to the show, which surprised me this late in the run. I know it's not unheard of, but really at this stage, what's the point? They changed the lyric, "country music in Tennessee" to "Michael Bolton and Kenny G," and Bebe's old line about "health care" being the thing everybody wants and so few have is now "Tickets to Book of Mormon" for Brooke.
After seeing the recent grosses for this production I wonder how long it will run. Brooke Shields doesn't seem to be a name that will pack 'em in.
I am seeing the show Friday Night.
How is she at the stage door? Does she come out?
I agree with seamlessicon. Considering the fact that no one seems to be touting Roger Rees' performance, I think unless critics embrace Brooke Shields as they did during the run of WONDERFUL TOWN -- and let's face it, that's not likely to happen as most greatly dislikes this show to begin with -- I can't see THE ADDAMS FAMILY getting a strong second wind at the box office.
uncageg, if you're ever on the fence about a show, I would say just GO! Easier to regret something you didn't do than something you did.
Go
It was much better than expected & not a train wreck as everyone seems to think. It is too bad it never approaches the nuttiness of the TV series."Lurch Learning To Dance"is priceless.
I'd say go too, it's just a fun show more then anything else. The sets are the best part of the show.
The sets for this show are goregous. Even though the book and score are a bit of a mess, it's still a fun show with some awesome visuals and special effects.
I personally love the show. Not as much without Nathan, but it's a FUN show.
I agree, it's a fun show with a likeable cast.
i saw it on tuesday. Brook came out and signed everything but didn't stop for photos. There was a huge crowd at the stage door so i'd suggest getting there quickly.

I agree with some of the other posters here and say that you should just go and give it a try. I did not love it - I think the music in particular is largely forgettable - but to say that the evening was a loss would be highly inaccurate as well. The show looks great and the cast (at least the originals) were first-rate across the board, even in the lesser roles. While it may not be high up on a list of favorites for me, I certainly enjoyed it more than some of the critically acclaimed darlings that often get near delusional positive feedback on this board and embarrassingly overpraised by critics (The Lion King jumps immediately to mind).
Just got back from seeing Brooke in the show. having just seen Bebe in her final week i was quite intrested to see what she would do with the role. In my openion she was good. i really liked her- more for her acting then her singing. i normally don't like to see people in the first few performances because normally they get better as time goes by. Brooke Flubbed a line in 'Around the Corner' but covered it well. She certainly isnt a belter but her singing isnt bad. between her and Bebe- Bebe is my fav. but i hope to see Brooke Later in her run when she gets more into the role. The Stage door was PACKED. I was front row ocrastra and got out in less then a minute and got the last spot at the barricade! The whole cast came out and signed. Like Bebe, Brooke was the last to come out. Everyone waited for like 30 minutes untill she finally came out. she signed for everybody and apoligized for the wait. My advice to people wanting to stage door this show- get to the stage door ASAP!
I saw the show her opening night and thought she did a good job. It is not a big role really. For me vocally - Wednesday steals the show. Gomez's voice is weak but he acts well. My surprise of the night was how friggin charming Fester is in the show. Especially his "moon" number at the beginning of the second act.
My opinion is Brooke did a solid good job. :))
It is a cute silly show and she did her part well.
I wanna know how Heidi Blickenstaff is.
I recently saw the show and frankly found it mostly very unfunny and dull. As much as I like Roger Rees, he simply wasn't the least bit funny in the role to me. Bebe was still in it then and she was good. But Uncle Fester and Grandma are two of the best parts. And frankly, I found Heidi Blickenstaff to be the FUNNIEST (role AND performance) in the whole show.
Heidi Stole the show- Her 'Waiting' is incredible and she was the funniest in the show! I love her in everything she does and she is amazing here- Just as good as Carolee Carmello was...maybe better...
did anyone notice at Times Square... that when they updated the photo to add Brooke... rather than keeping the photo the way its been with the whole cast standing together... they have Brooke sitting on what appears to be a THRONE, with the rest of the cast standing around her...um.. isn't that a little much? I mean...a throne? made me laugh a little
