Posted: 4/9/14 at 11:05pmSaw it this afternoon and it's a good show. Not great but I think it should find an auadience. My biggest problem was not enough "edge", not that I expected any from "Stro". It's pretty much "by the numbers" Braff is adorable and very likable with a nice singing voice. Most of the other Actors were giving safe, predictable performances. Yorke and Cordero walk away with it, but we've seen these types of performers lots of times before. Marin is such a talent, but the director has not helped her make this part unigue or special (like Weist did in the flick). Brooks finds all the laughs and his timing is still first rate. As many have said it seems "old fashioned", but enjoyable. I think a stronger more inventive director could have done a better job and given the show it's "own" look and feel.

As far as "old fashioned" goes - uh, you THINK? It IS old fashioned. It's supposed to be old fashioned. It's from the 20's, right? The songs are very OLD, everything is. It's a period piece. that's what the charm is. Did people want it to be "modern", "current", "RELEVANT?" Do we want it to be futuristic maybe with hip hop music?
I know, I'm on a roll, but really. Get serious. This isn't actually geared only towards curtain pull downer, but for anyone who thinks old fashioned is a negative.

Lol about the hip hop line. Snoop Dog (or whatever they are calling him this week) stepped on my heel on the way out of the theater. He was on his way to the Hard Rock. Saw him standing outside with his entourage while we were passing to get subway home.
The show is so much tighter than it was 2 weeks ago. Will probably take Best Musical. Caught one of Cheech's notes. He was actually writing the dialog.

Hmm, 411, you must have been close to me. The guy next to me actually caught Cheech's pen. Not sure if he's supposed to let that slip or not. I was in A101.
I thought the show was an amazing time. Didn't mind the music choices, the "joke," the "ending," or any of the recurring complaints here. I will say I was thinking about the Producers, but only because I got to say hi to Matthew Broderick on the way in, and it was the St. James, so.... yeah, between that and Stroman, and the concept of a show about putting on a Broadway show, based on a beloved movie by comedic geniuses... a few too many parallels. I thought Braff did a great Woodyesque take, and has a great Broadway debut.
I was a bit shocked by Pastore, but only because I started watching The Sopranos for the first time last week, and last night, I watched the episode where he got whacked, and I didn't know he was in this. So, to see him killed last night, and then he's right in front of me in person, with a bunch of girls going PussyP*ssypus*y*ussy was a bit surreal, but I think I was in a unique situation there.

Posted: 4/9/14 at 11:35pmI was close, very close, haterobics. The women near me saw the pen fly and were looking for it after the show. I really enjoyed it much better tonight, than 2 weeks ago. I cannot figure out what they cut to cut the run time, or I was just more into this time. Oh and to the person who said the dog does not get a curtain call, he/she/it, was on stage 2 weeks ago and tonight. So, maybe it had to pee and missed the curtain call at the show you were at, but was there tonight.

Posted: 4/9/14 at 11:47pmThe "Joke" went over much better tonight than it did 2 weeks ago. So not as offended as I was last time. Plus I knew it was coming this time. My husband thought it was one of the funnier lines in the show.

Seems as if there were quite a few of us there yesterday afternoon. :)
I heard that several shows that do not have Wednesday matinees brought their companies to see it yesterday.
