Nobody attacked you. Just the idea that you are judging the show by the signage. That puts it to a bad start? I actually LIKE it...it has that very 50's feel to it that it should.

edited for poor grammar.

I like it too. They'll make a killing on those buttons if they sell them.

That's my feeling too. It looks "right".

Oh, yeah. All the tweens who love Nolan Funk will be all over those. I certainly hope his performance in this show is better than his appearance of Smallville. Bad.

Hey, forget the signs -- I saw John Stamos on the street yesterday, and he looked great!

He commented that they are working non-stop getting ready!!

I would imagine so. I'm sure Nolan Funk wouldn't mind the attention from girls and boys.

With full rehearsal having begun yesterday, let's hope their "non-stop" work is coming together.

Could be.

'I just wish that people would be honest and not try to pick you apart for having a say.'

Well, if you want people to be honest, don't expect others to not pick ideas part.

Also, I do not think the marquee looks bad. There are other factors to consider if determining a show may be off to a bad start. I have seen not-so-great shows with nice looking marquees and vice versa.

'You know Eris. I reall do not get this Message Board There have been many times people get on and say how much they hate the signs of different new shows like F Rainbow. I get on and get beaten up for expressing my view. There has to be many people out there who do not like them.
I love the show and want it to be a hit. I am just saying a fact and all of you know it is bad signing.'

A- Yes, people have mentioned they didn't like the marquees for certain shows, but no one implied that bad art on marquees meant the show was off to a bad start.

B- What you are saying is not a FACT because all of us don't agree with you it is bad artwork.

"it is bad signing"

Gee they are off to a bad start AND we know that the deaf won't be able to follow the story?

i think the sign does look "right" for the show with the whole 50's thing said earlier, but i just don't like it. with that billboard they really don't need the sign to attract attention because it's pretty much the only thing to look at while walking down the block. i personally can't wait for the show and to see the new theater.

It's a non-profit show. The word hit is inconsequential.

I love the signs/marquee lol. Each person's face is so funny. It's perfect for the show/time period.

(No, I didn't read this whole thread because, honestly, the first couple of posts were just stupid. Spring Awakening, yeah? Really? Let it go. It wasn't that great)

I think people underestimate good marketing and a good logo. Look at "Exit the King." It had the classiest marketing I've seen in ages. It didn't plaster it's logo or name all over the marquee, instead it actually showcased all the actor's names and it was just classy. Where as you go see something like Birdie, and it's just the same logo and design EVERYWHERE. It's just really cheesy. And look at Norman Conquests. Beautiful, amazing show, but the marketing wasn't so great and the show wasn't such a huge hit.

If you have to use a photograph, I think the MARIE CHRISTINE poster is the best I've seen. It hangs proudly on my wall near the NINE revival poster which also was an exquisite use of photography in an ad campaign.

This is SIDE SHOW 2. Crowd shots on posters don't work. EVER. The button logo is cute though... why not just stick with that? And by the way, the concept is almost blatently stolen from the new film version of BBB which begins with old 8MM black and white footage sort of mocking the mass hysteria (and nerdy outfits) prevalent at the time at concerts. Just sayin'.

ROUNDABOUT is responsible for the abysmal revival FOLLIES, THREEPENNY OPERA and 110 IN THE SHADE ad campaigns/posters, so what do you expect?

And you have two of the most beautiful actors in the world as your leads, who are very recognizable to many if not most, and you're not gonna use THEM in your ad campaign?

That could be a money issue. If they're expecting the show to run they may not want to have to change the posters and marquee once the original stars leave.

I think the sign is just ok. At first glance, which is what many people will be limited to, I didn't stop to think what decade it represented. I just thought of the show it's advertising and didn't see enough connection.
