A full week post-Tony noms for a show to announce it is closing-Is that some kind of record, usually something announces within hours of the nominations.

Such a shame. This is a BEAUTIFUL production that nobody is talking about. I wish so badly that this would have been a hit.

I agree. Ridloff and Jackson were truly wonderful, and I was surprisingly very moved by the end. This production deserved more traction

Good to see your posts Jordan and Concierge. I loved the original production but I, like others I guess, read the tepid reviews and posts here and thought, why bother- I’ll keep my memories. Well, as luck would have it, a friend is taking me to see it tomorrow. And I’m glad to read your praise. I wasn’t particularly looking forward but now I feel some more hope, so thx again for posting!

This was a wonderful production, I really enjoyed it. But no one ever talked about this, no advertising, nothing. Unfortunate but expected

It's an easy ticket to get, so is it really worth seeing? It doesn't interest me, but now I'm kind of curious?

Popularity (ticket sales) and quality are not synonymous.
I like this, I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to - but I did think it was worth it.
I found Ridloff to be outstanding, but was less impressed with Jackson. His role, to be fair, is a monstrosity and I just don't think he was quite talented enough to pull it off. I found his emotions to genuine, but it really takes a special actor to pull off all the "translating" needed in this play. That is where he lost me.
Is it worth it? I think so; I don't regret a penny I spent to see it.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I agree with you completely - I don't feel like it was a waste of time, but I wanted to love it far more than I did. It just didn't resonate with me, though I thought Ridloff was fantastic, and I enjoyed Jackson's performance as well.

Back from today's matinee. Thought it was wonderful. Joshua Jackson was robbed of a Tony Nomination. Haven't felt this way since, oh yeah, just last year when Gideon Glick didn't make the cut for Significant Other. God, Mr. Jackson's role is unbelievable. The guy is never off the stage and has to interpret another actor's role as well as his own. And he does so effortlessly and beautifully. Ms. Ridloff was amazing as well. Robbed of the Revival Play nomination as well. The small audience was very moved and appreciative. I was in tears by the 2nd act. You really have to see something yourself to know if you will like it or not.

Sad that this is closing so soon. To be honest, my interest was peaked from Nyle DiMarco’s involvement and my knack for ASL. I will be going next week and it’s a shame this one didn’t catch on.
I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

Totally agreed, EthelMae. I thought Jackson was sensational and was surprised by the criticism he received. Deserved much more.

I bought tickets for this before the previews began, mainly because of Joshua Jackson. I loved his performance, and thought he was really effective in conveying not just his character's emotions but those of the other characters for whom he was interpreting. Sad he wasn't nominated, and even sadder that this is closing so soon.

I was as well. It treaded water at times, but the last half hour was strong and very moving. It was a play with heart, and it stirred and connected to ours.
I'm sorry it wasn't able to find an audience this time around.

Saw the show tonight and enjoyed it a lot, I went in not knowing anything about the show and really enjoyed the whole thing.
They did a talk back with the cast afterwards which was quite interesting as well.
The text above the stage didn't bother me at all but it always seemed to be behind or ahead of what was actually being said which seemed weird that they couldn't have it synced up correctly by now unless it was meant to be that way.
Also did the today tix rush, view was the seats were fantastic, second row rear mezzanine but I completely forgot how bad the leg room is there. Ridiculously painful the entire time.
They did a talk back with the cast afterwards which was quite interesting as well.
