Anyone saw her? (Les Mis 2006 & Wonderland)
I remember when I saw Wonderland I thought to myself 'wow what a voice at such a young age' Best thing about the show really. I hope she goes far in this.
Anyone else saw her lastnight?

Here is the clip if anyone is interested.
She sounded great. A little too trained poodle for my tastes - like she was trying too hard to imitate the original recording and sound "grown up" rather than just singing - but she did do a great job.
It will be interesting to see what her mentor does with her.
I recognized her immediately last night as well. She was fantastic and it was great to see the judges' love for her. I hope she makes it far in the competition. Looking forward to see what she does in the next round.
That was great! Never watched the show last year, but maybe now I should watch...
She completely blew me away! I love that she wasn't pretentious or trying to do all the Christina/Mariah vocal gymnastics. That was a pure voice-no auto-tuning necessary. Wow- just wow! I also loved the flamboyant customer service rep. He had a nice voice!
I already KNEW she was a "star" as I saw her in WONDERLAND last year and I, too, was in awe of her vocal capabilities when I saw the show in the front row. I thought to myself "Yup she has a great future ahead!"
I was surprised that as a producer Simon had not heard of her before. I Don't know I guess because she is on the recording of several WONDERLAND albums he would have known at least her name?
It was really nice to see the Simon was genuinely shocked, in awe, and welcoming of her talent. It is not often that he surrenders his "tough guy" persona.
^She's only on the OBCR with the tedious song "Home" (not as the duet song) and one or two other ensemble songs. When I first saw her sing for Wonderland I literally thought an adult cast member was singing for her too.
What a voice though, but I am always reminded of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "protege" Andrea Ross, the 13 year old from Boston a few years ago with an extremely mature voice. She got an album, the Whistle tour, then kind of fizzled out (she's enrolled at a school in New York for MT if I'm not mistaken).
I didn't see her in Wonderland and I don't watch The X Factor but wow, her voice is fantastic.
I didn't realize she was the girl from Wonderland. Great, refreshing young performer. I hope she goes far in the competition.
Even more reason why they should have gone back into the studio and recorded the revised opening and the duet version of "Home" from Wonderland with Carly Rose Sonenclar. They'd probably be selling very well on itunes right about now.
"I was surprised that as a producer Simon had not heard of her before. I Don't know I guess because she is on the recording of several WONDERLAND albums he would have known at least her name?"
Even though he's a music producer, I doubt Simon has heard of her just because she was on a recording of Wonderland.
I believe I saw Carly as young Cossette in Les Mis back in 2007. I can't remember who was in as young Cossette/Eponine for my performance. All I remember is I was at the 4th of July matinee.
Supportivemom, you mean the tech support guy? I agree, he was great! Good personality and effortless performance!

I pegged Carly as a star six years ago.
My comment regarding Les Miz in April 2007:
Carly Rose Sonenclar is now fabulous as Young Cosette. I saw her at the first preview (10/24/06) six months ago, and maybe eight times since then. Last night, her singing was beautifully on key and her acting was great. Carly must be one to watch out for as a future star.
She had just one solo in Les Miserables (duh!), and one in Little House on the Prairie and one in Wonderland. I'm looking forward to hearing many more on X-Factor.
p.s. I even recognized her dad right away. Did you notice that as Carly was going up onstage both dad and mom were saying "break a leg?"

Bump!
p.s. If not now, when?
There's no doubting her talent, but she really is an old soul in a young girls body. I think she might actually be better off not winning the XFactor this year and coming back to a full time music career in a few years time. Of all the finalists, she is the least in need of $5m and a pepsi commercial! Regardless of the outcome, she will get a recording contract immediately. It will be interesting to see what type of music she releases. Hopefully she will learn to sing the correct notes and not trill on every note around it....
Here she is in Wonderland. She comes on at the 7.10 mark - shes grown up alot since then.
re Wonderland - why was the song that opened the show 'worst day of my life' not on the OBCR? Apart from it being a terrible song i mean....
Carly Rose in Wonderland on Broadway
I will be voting for Carly tonight. I have followed her throughout the competition and she really deserves to win. Outstanding voice!
I'm just catching up to this because I'm usually like, "meh, singing kids," but I watched all her stuff on YouTube yesterday and oh my God. What a voice!
Wow, home-wrecker LeAnn Rimes was a hot mess.
LeAnn Rimes reminds me of Jenna Maroney in 30 ROCK, always trying to outsing people, jealous of actresses who are like 20-30 years her junior. That's what Rimes' performance felt like, also, girl needs to lay off the Botox.
Carly Rose Sonenclar does have a great voice, I agree with criticism she has gotten before that she comes off almost as too mature for her age. Hopefully she's not another Lea Michele in the making.
I dunno, 13 can be pretty mature -- and a mature 13-year-old doesn't necessarily mean the kinds of negative things associated with Lea Michele, which may or may be results of her beginning her career as a child (plus, the problem, arguably, is lack of maturity). Carly seems really sweet and grounded; hopefully she will stay that way.
The reason that "Worst Day of My Life" isn't on the original cast recording is because it wasn't in the final version of the show. You can hear it on the concept album but for some reason it was removed from the show. I thought it was a great opener and should have stayed in along with "Love Begins" and "I Don't Wanna Fall in Love."
i wonder why it made it all the way to the Broadway production and then they cut it....
^Not true. "Worst Day of My Life" was revamped for the Tampa 2011 version, which was followed by Carly Rose's solo "Home."
When the show was rewritten by the "ghost writers" in the month before Broadway, they re-arranged "Worst Day" to become the slow, contemporary version to accommodate Janet Dacal and Carly Rose, as the "Home" solo now went to Dacal. By the time the show opened in April, "Home" also became a duet, and "Worst Day" still opened.
The show recorded the album in March of 2011, before the first preview (21st) and opening in April.
That was DREADFUL-a complete mess, and definitely not a song for a 13yo as there is no way she would have the worldly experience to understand those lyrics.Vocal gymnastics, so that ignorant crowd can scream after her second note. The entire emotion of that song should show in the face-don't wander all over the place and wave your arms-stand still--and maybe come back to it in 10 years.
Philly - im not syre if you're referring to my post or Clydes... I wasnt aware that Worst Day... had been rewritten. But there was a song called worst day of my life still in cluded in the show. I prefer the new version to the frantic original.
