Very exciting news. I hope we get it soon! It will be nice to listen to the new orchestrations. Listen to the OBCR often, so it will be nice for a new "rendition".

It seems like it will still be a while. Looks like there's no label or funding yet.

I wonder if Carr will expand his orchestrations like he did for Sunday and Night Music?

I'm not understanding the hate for the vocals. Maybe they all sound terrible live, but that's no indication of what it will sound like after it's been recorded and messed with in the studio.

From what I've seen in the preview video & Douglas's Royal Variety Performance he may not be a belter but he can definitely sing.

No funding, no label and everyone is thrilled it's happening. The only way it's happening is if the producers fully fund the recording - I'm sure they're in "negotiations" with every label - all of whom love to get a free album - they make money, they take no risk - it's how ninety percent of the cast albums made today happen. A far cry from the days when labels actually paid for the recordings and took all the risk and got all the money.

I was hoping this development would happen. I, for one, liked the orchestrations for the smaller instrumentation. And I happen to like Douglas Hodge's voice. A new recording would commemorate one of the most satisfying evenings in the theatre I have ever had.

Hard-core musical theatre lovers on this very site treasure their recordings of classic songs performed by non-singers for various reasons. I don't think I've ever heard anyone bitch about how they want their money back for their recordings of Night Music with Glynis Johns or Judi Dench. I'm thrilled about the prospect of this recording and I've a feeling those who don't want it simply won't buy it. And those who don't want to listen to Douglas Hodge, probably won't.

I definitely can't wait and hope it happens! I was at the first preview and fell in love. It was probably the energy in the theater that had something to do with it too, but it was one of the best nights I've had on Broadway in recent memory. I can't wait to make a return trip in the next few weeks!
