Cast Recordings You Wish You Hadn't Bought

Anything you wish you hadn't spent your money on?

"Aspects of Love" is one that I wish I'd only bought a few tracks from and not the whole thing. I adore, adore, adore Michael Ball, the show's intriguing, and I had a lot of fun listening the whole cast recording through a few times, but there are SO MANY tracks and they perpetually come up on my shuffle, and a lot of them are really irritating taken out of context. Also, it bothers me how the female actresses scoop so much in their singing.

Also, I wish I hadn't spent my money on an "Annie Get Your Gun" OBC because I dropped and broke it before ever listening to it, but that has nothing to do with the content.

Remastered "A Chorus Line". The extra eight seconds (or whatever it was) wasn't worth another $12.99

High Fidelity. its a shame too, because its still one of my favorite shows, but the recording is just lifeless. I prefer the closing night audio.

^ 2 minutes over all, a large portion of the montage was restored. Well worth it in my book.

I am glad I didn't waste my money on "Aspects of Love." That was a gift.

I'm gonna go with my concept album for "Wuthering Heights: the Musical"

White Christmas.

Bought it when I saw the show, haven't listened to it since.

What did you buy? The original 78's???

Side story: The LAST 78 album I bought was the set of the 1952 revival of PAL JOEY. I had been looking for the LP for years. Footlight had the 78 album for $20 so I bought it. Carefully packed it in my suitcase. When I got home all 4 records were broken in half. Fortunately a year later Broadway Angel put the album out on CD. And I stopped collecting 78's.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

The Merrily We Roll Along revival. Blech!

I wasn't crazy about Runaways when I first got it, but it grew on me. Haven't listened to it in years though.

The one I was sorry that I bought was Notre Dame. I heard 2 songs on BWW Radio that I liked and ordered it. I don't even listen to those 2 songs anymore. I tried watching it thinking I would like it better after having seen the show. Nope. Didn't work!

re: Cast Recordings You Wish You Hadn't Bought

I have more cds than I care to think about that I wish I hadn't bought in retrospect (including several mentioned on this thread already). I've been on a mission to try listening to every album I have on my ipod (which has nearly 70 gigs of music). I'm half way through the Ds and started this in September. I've come across some drek, that's for sure...

The first cd I ever purchased...the mo-town version of guys and dolls. I was 10. I didn't know any better.
