Was hearing talk about further progress on THE PRINCESS BRIDE was curious what people think for casting:
Westley- Gavin Creel, Jonathan Bailey, Jeremy Jordan,
Princess Bride- Sutton Foster, Megan Hilty, Laura Osnes, Phillipa Soo
Fezzik: (Tymothy from Hadestown)
Miracle Max- (Nathan Lane, Andrea Martin, Harvey Fierstein, Josh Gad
Inigo Montoya- Will Swenson, Lelsie Odom Jr,
Prince Humperdinck - Cheyenne Jackson, Brian Stokes Mitchell
Vizzini - Martin Short, Matthew Broderick
I would like to see Mandy Patinkin take on the King in a cameo, assuming that role is kept - it would be a full-circle moment for him and this project, plus the late Willoughby Gray was 71 when he played that role on screen. Patinkin is 68 now; who knows how old he will be if this ever comes to fruition?
I think it is safe to assume Patinkin won’t come near this with a 10 foot pole

Curious why you say this? He just participated - quite passionately, complete with original props he has in his house (namely, his sword) - in a script reading with basically the entire movie cast as a fundraiser last year. Has he shown dismay with it being adapted?

I could swear I read an article where Patinkin expressed complete dismay and disgust over a potential Broadway musical adaptation, but I can't find it anywhere. So either I dreamt it or Disney had it scrubbed from the internet lol.
There’s a difference between reuniting with the original cast for a reading and being a supporting character in an adaptation in which someone will play the role that pivoted him to stardom. I don’t think he has an aversion to the property, but it would be an interesting career choice

Without knowing what direction the score is taking, so thus basing it on the book and the movie, Sutton Foster is 100% wrong for Buttercup. If people think Ben Platt is too old to still be playing Evan Hansen, Sutton is definitely way past the age where she should be playing a character that, in the book, was explicitly stated to be 21 for the main bulk of the story (and thus even younger in her first few scenes)
A pretty feeble list altogether- there are thousands of capable and suitable performers who could be in the running, way beyond this parade of basically the same old names that get trotted out for everything.
Throwing out my suggestions without any real regard for anything:
Buttercup: Denee Benton
Wesley: some twink i guess
Count: Jonathan Freeman... Andy Karl if they want someone younger maybe?
Prince Humperdinck: Wesley Taylor
Vizzini/Miracle Max/King: Brad Oscar
Miracle Max’s Wife/Booer/Queen: Jackie Hoffman (would be legitimately surprised if she doesn’t actually get cast in this role if/when this comes to Broadway)
Grandfather: Mandy Patinkin
I refuse to cast an Inigo Montoya.

OH I love the idea of Jackie Hoffman how could I not think of her
Also like the idea of Benton
Some interesting casting choices for sure, but Hilty and Foster are not age-appropriate for "Buttercup"

On a podcast about a month ago, he said he will be doing a movie musical adaptation in Fall 2022. Best bet would be Princess Bride.
I can see him as a Rugen/Vizzini/Max track easily.

Or Some Like It Hot?
Some Like It Hot is being reimagined as a primarily black show. He could be one of the minor roles, but he’s not one of the two main men if it’s that.
Jonathon Groff as Westley
Laura Osnes as Buttercup
Santino Fontana as Inigo Montoya
Shuler Hensley as Fezzik
Christian Borle as Prince Humperdinck
Christopher Fitzgerald as Vezzini/Miracle Max/The Albino
Alexander Gemignani as Count Rugen
Chip Zien as The Grandfather/The Impressive Clergyman
Jennifer Simard as Valeria (Max’s wife)/The Ancient Booer/The Mother
Anthony Rosenthal as The Grandson

I thought they were just turning Sugar into a role for a Black actress? The entire show is going to have a Black cast?

Not what I heard, but I guess time will tell.

Betsy Wolfe for Buttercup? Regardless I hope they make Buttercup into a more interesting character than in the movie. Even in the book she seemed more feisty.
