I can't imagine Michael Arden doing it. I know he is lined up to do The Times they are a changin and that is planning on going to Broadway. Oh, and Dennis O'Hare would be perfect as Tom Hanks part (unlike Nathan Lane). And as for the San Diego tryout (my home town), there could be no better place.

Matthew Morrison isn't involved with Tarzan at all. Nathan Lane would most likely do it? Why? Cause any pay check is better than none. And, after the Odd Couple, he'd probably want to distance himself from his partner in crime, Matthew Broderick.

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of the promo CD from the workshop.
The tracks on the CD are:
1) The Real Truth Lies
2) Jet Set
3) Someone else's skin
4) On Doctors Orders
If the rest of the show is 1/2 as good as the music I heard, the play will be a HUGE hit.
Mark Shamin outdid himself on this score, it's just as good as Hairspray, if not a tad better.
As far as casting, I am interested in seeing who will be taking the lead roles. I agree, that if Nathan Lane's schedule permits, he will probably do the show. If for no other reason, than out of friendship for Terrance McNally.
Glad to hear the show's starting to move along in the process

If it's set for 08, then Billy, Frankenstein, some pirates and Ariel will have some good company. Now, what theatre is avail... my guess is, since Rockwell has big sets, they'll want either the St. James, Palace, Marquis, and Ambassador.
How are, financially, Drowsy, Blonde, Producers, and Chicago doing? Because Mel Broks is looking into another theatre for Frankenstei other than St. James...
wow.. just. wow. there is extreme jealously happening here.
that sounds fantastic.. something i would definitely want to see!
=)
wow.
I can't wait. Is it very 60's? "Down with Love" esque?
God I would love to be the scenic designer on a show like this. I can see it now.
Mateo,
I have been sketching my version of the set this week, just as a fun excersice. We should share :)

omg i will totally draw some up!
We can make a off topic post about it. I dont know all the locations, but from the film I can assume where the action takes place.
I'll pm you in the next few days when I have some done.
If Jack O'Brien directs - - will this project debut at the Old Globe in San Diego - I believe he is an artistic director there...
Yeah, I'm making assumptions based on the movie and the songlist that Craig posted on the first page of this thread. I already have 3 scenes done and one well on the way. Hah...I really should be doing the set design work that I am getting PAID to do...but oh well, this is much too fun.

Any news on when this will hit Broadway?
Probably the '08-'09 season.
As for Matthew Morrison, he might be busy with Tarzan when this show previews and Michael Arden might be busy too doing the Dylan musical.
Oh how things change in just 18 months.
What is Matt Morrison doing in the near future? The Opposite of Sex?
wow, i had no real interest in this before, but this sounds wonderful!
From what I have heard this will debut at the Old Globe.
Well with Jack O'brien directing that would make sense.
I cannot even believe how AMAZING this cast is! I wish they would all stay with the show. The entire show just sounds fantastic! Too bad we still have such a long wait before we get to see it.
I hope it has tryouts in San Diego, like people have been suggesting! I would be completely willing to make the three hour drive in order to see this!
How can one accrue the demo of this? Are there any clips available online apart from Marc Shaiman singing "50 Checks"?
omg! That cast sounds great! And the production team!! Ever since Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, I have been dying for those three to come back together!
I am really excited!
and are you sure it's going to premiere at the Old Globe?
I'm thinking about interning there next summer, and I would love to find out when it will be there. Please let me know!
I heard Shoshana Bean sing "Fly, Fly Away" at a cabaret this past Friday.
She didn't set it up (and I haven't seen the movie) but it was a great song even out of context. Made me want to see the movie and to hear more about the play.
I just checked the Old Globe website and the productions for the 2007/2008 season is up. The season ends June 2008. So if Catch Me If You Can does premiere at the Old Globe, it would be in the 2008-2009 season, the earliest starting date being Sept 2008.

They must want to get this show just right. It's taking forever to get it on Broadway!
