I heard Shoshana Bean sing "Fly, Fly Away" at a cabaret this past Friday.
She didn't set it up (and I haven't seen the movie) but it was a great song even out of context. Made me want to see the movie and to hear more about the play.
I just checked the Old Globe website and the productions for the 2007/2008 season is up. The season ends June 2008. So if Catch Me If You Can does premiere at the Old Globe, it would be in the 2008-2009 season, the earliest starting date being Sept 2008.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree. ~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~
There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~
It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known. ~A Tale of Two Cities ~
They must want to get this show just right. It's taking forever to get it on Broadway!
"I'm tellin' you, the only times I really feel the presence of God are when I'm having sex and during a great Broadway musical." - Nathan Lane - Jeffrey
Our workshop was a wonderful experience. I think we were all knocked out at how well it "peaked" over the course of the 2 weeks of work. That was exciting unto itself, the actual working on the show, changes, new songs being brought in mid week, etc...
The cast for the workshop was fantastic.
As was the cast for that reading that Craig saw almost 2 years ago.
As will be (knock wood) the cast for the actual production.
That's all I'm saying about casting. That's all there IS to say!
The creative team on this show has been so busy on so many things, the workshop was, almost literally the first time we were all in the same room for 2 weeks since we first had this idea to musicalize "CATCH ME".
In other words, we have not been writing and re-writing for 4 years!! Oh my!
And now, once again, the schedules of many people (on stage and behind the scenes) dictates what happens next, but we are now determined to be on Broadway early NEXT season. And based on this workshop, we feel we are ready to do that.
And the REAL Frank Abignale Jr. came to the workshop. At least, we THINK it was him!
If the rest of the world reacts half as well as he did, it will be very exciting.

Being that Marc has done the music, it's bound to be added to my list of fave musicals! It's already one of my fave movies! I can't wait! Updated On: 8/19/07 at 01:46 AM
Woah. maybe never mind on that. She sounded so strained. She should take a 6 month vocal rest or something :/ Silly Elphaba
Actually, Ben, she sounded amazing live. I'm sorry if that didn't translate onto the recording for you. Thanks for reminding me why I was ignoring you for the longest time. Go take 6 months off of being a jerk. Updated On: 8/19/07 at 01:36 PM
Suttonfan, I believe Christian DID play Frank in the most recent workshop. The cast Craig described earlier in this thread was from a year and a half ago.
"People that excel in the arts understand that the journey is the reward...the result an added bonus. Every day I act or train is a blessing and a dream come true. If Broadway beckons so be it. I have a personal definition of success that is unshakable by a possibly unobtainable goal." -HamletWasBipolar
Popular you can "ignore" me for being a jerk to you personally but it's immature to ignore someone just because they are as passionate about their opinions as you are about your differing ones.
where is shoshana bean and randy redd they are both in the show ? there in the workshop right now
