This is my new favorite TV series - sort of a cross between Bob's Burgers and the Simpsons but with such a great theatrical cast, catchy tunes and hilarious plots. Is anyone else watching?

Yeah, I was a little put off by that, but they also have Daveed Diggs voicing a white character.

I guess it’s also ‘problematic’ that 2 of the female characters are voiced by males. I find that funny and entertaining. I just don’t think this is a show we need to judge the casting

I watched the 1st 2 episodes and enjoyed it. I know the 3rd episode dropped already but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

It was cute enough but I gradually got more bored as the first episode went on. Maybe I'll try another one.
As to Kristen Bell moving to a different character but staying on the show? I'm fine with that. She agrees with it and she'll still make mint either way.

Emmy Raver-Lampman is taking over the role. She is bi-racial. There should have been no problem with Bell voicing this character. Like you can tell by her voice that she is not bi-racial? What does a bi-racial person "sound" like? I am getting PC fatigue.

From my understanding, it's less about how the person sounds than the fact that mixed race roles aren't available in the same quantity as roles for white performers, so the optics of a white actor taking a role like this, albeit an animated one, are... not ideal.

I was speaking to a few black voice actors who voice countless animated TV shows like FAMILY GUY, BOB’S BURGERS, AMERICAN DAD, etc and they weren’t bothered by white actors voicing other ethnicities as that’s what voice actors do - play the voice. They even embraced the fact that MANY classic black animated characters were voiced by white actors. They find it foolish how actors are resigning from roles with endless apologies when they take more issue with the fact the role wasn’t cast race correct from the start. Keep your gig, just cast intelligently from now on. That’s all.

I don't get this at all. She's MIXED race. So it's 50/50, no? So ... if she's half white and half black... I don't get why this is a problem? I don't get the outrage. I'm all for change, but I don't think this is the battle to fight.
