You don't.
Some people just think they know EVERYTHING.
oh Ljay i love you so......
and the new Charity should be the fabulous Sara Gettlefinger

LJay keeps on accumulating points as my official poster on this board! That was pure golden, LJay!
Anyways, if Marissa Tomei wasn't good in the singing and dancing category why the hell was she even considered for the role? This Weissler people wanted to revive one of the most demanding triple-threat roles and planned to cast an actress that they didn't even know whether she could sing and dance! I'm so glad Applegate at least didn't disappoint us in that aspect! I honestly think Renee Zellweger would be a good choice for this role, but what about Jane Krakowski? I consider her a big name and she is packing them in every night on "Guys and Dolls"...well McGregor helps but I'm sure she has a lot to do with the box office success of the show.
Ljay is my hero haha! Regarding Sara Gettlefinger, i love her! She doesn't exactly look like Charity but she could probably pull it off. Shes not my first choice, although she needs a leading role on broadway/something bigger than her tiny yet amazing performance in DRS.
Thanks, You guys! Much love.
Wasn't Jane in talks to play Charity to being with but it didn't work out? I read that somewhere i think.
Yep. In order it went.
Marissa
Jenna Elfman
Jane (had a fight with Neil Simon over the book, and he refused to have her in the show)
Then Christina was cast.

Jenna Elfman can sing and dance?
Not really lol. The main reason it didn't work out with Marissa & Jenna was because of their lack of musical theatre skills.
Applegate trained in dance for over 20 years, so that really helped her get the role.
I'd love to see Paige Davis in the role

Wow. At least they have someone in there now who has the heart and spirit to keep the show going.

"It's me, Charity Hope Valentine!"
:-P
OH GOD!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!NOT THAT AWFUL CRAP SHOW THEY CALLED A MOVIE!! STOP! MY EYES!!!!!!
Okay, everyone shoot me if you need to..but what about Reese Witherspoon?
I didn't know Jane Krakowski was supposed to open the show, she's a great performer, it could have worked with her too. Is Neil Simon like another stupid Arthur Laurents?
At first, it was supposed to be Marisa Tomei (this was the workshop fase about two-three years ago. Closer to two.) Then she dropped out, don't know why, and it wasn't going to happen anymore. Then Jane Krakowski replaced her (still in workshop,) and then she dropped out, so the project was dead again. Then Christina came in, did the try out, got hurt, and they canceled the Broadway engagement. Then three weeks later they said it was coming without Christina to start, and then it happened...
This project really has overcome ALOT to get to Broadway.
I think Chenoweth would be phenomenal in this role, if she can dance... can she? I've never seen her in a show where she had to.
OOOH ERIN DILLY!!! I could see her as Charity. Yes I know, not enough to sell seats but she'd make a great one.
I know shes doing the Broadway bound- "Drowsy Chaperone," but Sutton Foster would be an AMAZING Charity.
Cheno probably wouldn't be down with replacing someone at this point, but she would probably be fun.
YES!
"Nomi Malone in
Sweet Charity."
It's Paige Davis or SJP in the role - for me.
And I've heard both names are circulating through the Weissler office.
SJP. SJP. SJP. SJP. SJP. Oh, can I say it again? SJP.
Paige would be cute as Charity. She's adorable. I'd rather have her do it than SJP, I was never really a fan of hers but I like Paige.
