Does anyone think or know if Sweet Charity will close when Christina's contract is up? I really would like to see this show, but I wont be there until March? What are your thoughts? It's between that and probably The Pajama Game.
Mr and Mrs Weissler are looking for a replacement right now as we speak.
But if the right replacement can't be found, they will indeed have to close the show.
But as of now, a replacement is being looked for.
And a tour is being planned.
thanks ljay!

What about Charlotte D'Amboise? I had always assumed she would take over.
Sadly, while Charlotte has always been the right choice for the role. They will NEVER let Charlotte take over, because she dosen't have a name to sell tickets.

Ugh, that makes me sick....
When in doubt...bring in Brooke Sheilds!!!* note the sarcasm

Charlotte is the best part of that production....
Maybe Idina can do it after SWIWS...
personally, I can't wait to see Brooke Shields as Charity. she's gonna be awesome... and the new CD too! whoo hoo!!!
Wait Brooke Shields is a Charity? Or is that sarcasm from when she did Wonderful Town?
I can think of a lot of actresses who could do well with Charity...

When I saw the show in June, they handed out forms and one of the questions said something like "If you pick an actress to play Charity, who would you pick?"
boy, those Weisslers really need to work on their grammar...
I hope they've been knocking on Brittany Murphy's door.
It'd be interesting, actually to see Idina in this role....and she would make the show a gigantic hit.
What about Cheno in this role? They'd obviously have to play her songs a step up or so, and it wont happen b/c of her 280317gagillionzillion movies coming out.
I wish they'd let Dylis do it again! She was astounding! Simply Amazing!
...and it really saddens me that if they dont find a "name" the show won't sell.
It's such a great revival. I don't understand the mixed reviews. La Cage was mixed to negative review worthy. Charity deserved mild to pretty positive reviews. It was such a big surprise to me, how good of a production it was. And while Applegate is absolutely splendid, the show could soar without her. Soar and be a public hit without it's huge lead? No freaking way. And it is very sad, but that's how it works.

Rosie O'Donnell will be available in January. Her name does sell tickets!
My money is on Loretta Switt, Dollypop. Any word on just who might be favoured?

Loretta won't be available because she's joining the cast of MAMMA MIA.
Doing the cast? Goodness! I'd heard she was standby for THE WOMAN IN WHITE.

That's not only a lie, it's a false lie. She's going into MAMMA MIA. don't know the exact date.
For real? There is no grandmother in Mamma Mia, though I can see her in black up the back during Dancing Queen.

Loretta Switt - considering I don't know who this is, i'm thinking she's probably not a big enough name to draw people in, I would go with Britany Murphy - I know she can sing, not sure about the dancing - she seems perky enough.
Loretta Switt was 'Hotlips' in the M.A.S.H tv series. think about it.

They could consider Cameron Diaz. She is so amazing - "In Her Shoes". She and Applegate were in a movie together. Maybe Drew Barrymore? I really wish Chita Rivera could do it (Solo show on. Yah!)
