Posted: 10/12/05 at 10:07pmDoes anyone think or know if Sweet Charity will close when Christina's contract is up? I really would like to see this show, but I wont be there until March? What are your thoughts? It's between that and probably The Pajama Game.

Mr and Mrs Weissler are looking for a replacement right now as we speak.
But if the right replacement can't be found, they will indeed have to close the show.
But as of now, a replacement is being looked for.
And a tour is being planned.

I can think of a lot of actresses who could do well with Charity...

It'd be interesting, actually to see Idina in this role....and she would make the show a gigantic hit.
What about Cheno in this role? They'd obviously have to play her songs a step up or so, and it wont happen b/c of her 280317gagillionzillion movies coming out.

...and it really saddens me that if they dont find a "name" the show won't sell.
It's such a great revival. I don't understand the mixed reviews. La Cage was mixed to negative review worthy. Charity deserved mild to pretty positive reviews. It was such a big surprise to me, how good of a production it was. And while Applegate is absolutely splendid, the show could soar without her. Soar and be a public hit without it's huge lead? No freaking way. And it is very sad, but that's how it works.

They could consider Cameron Diaz. She is so amazing - "In Her Shoes". She and Applegate were in a movie together. Maybe Drew Barrymore? I really wish Chita Rivera could do it (Solo show on. Yah!)
