This puts me off to the point of almost not wanting to see the show.
After all the crap Jackson put the producers through in negotiations earlier, he decides at the eleventh hour that he's suddenly "good enough" to do the show?
He's incredibly talented, but not as much as he seems to think he is.

Why shouldn't he negotiate a fair contract? Glad to see all parties came to an equitable solution.

I feel the same way about Cheyenne Jackson as I feel about Nick Adams. A pretty face, nothing more. Well... a little more stage presence.
Not that I wanted to see FINIAN anyway. I'm just saying. I've never understood why people like him so much. Other than that he can fill out tight costumes and clothes in general in a very aesthetically pleasing way.

Posted: 7/22/09 at 3:06pmThis really is curious. Because I missed Finian's at Encores!, of course I'm thrilled that Cheyenne is going to be doing it and will probably see it more than once. But less than a month ago, I spoke with someone very close to Cheyenne and was advised that Cheyenne had decided not to do it. Wonder what changed his mind? Money? Exposure? Any guesses out there?

Posted: 7/22/09 at 3:07pmThe difference is, Cheyenne has proved successful in leading roles. Nick Adams has yet to get out of the ensemble.

Gee, the rumor mills certainly got everything wrong about this one: first no cheyenne, followed by no show -- both to be proven wrong.
Can I say: Cheyenne's thighs scare me?

Posted: 7/22/09 at 3:19pmCheyenne's thighs do not scare me -- they exhilarate me. Sometimes it just seems unfair that someone has EVERYTHING in one package: he's gorgeous; he's talented; he's going to end up with a lot of money. What's not to like?

At that point, Cheyenne was indeed out of the production. Not sure why things suddenly changed. I'm not entirely convinced that the Times is correct. I'd like to know where they got their information before celebrating.

The Times news story has Cheyenne confirmed by the show's publicist - certainly not the equivalent of reading it on Datalounge or BroadwaySecrets.
"Publicists for the show said on Wednesday in a news release that Cheyenne Jackson (whose Broadway credits include 'Xanadu' and 'All Shook Up') would reprise the role of Woody, which he originated in the New York City Center Encores! production of the show earlier this year."

Posted: 7/22/09 at 3:36pmHis thighs scare me, too. And actually, his face scares me. But although I don't think he's attractive, I really love his voice. True, he probably wouldn't be as popular if he wasn't as muscular and fit, but that certainly doesn't mean he's not talented. Still, everyone has different tastes. What I might like about him might be the same traits you hate about him.

Posted: 7/22/09 at 3:38pmOkay, I stand corrected. Awesome! I was really hoping he'd transfer with it, which is why I didn't want to get all excited over something that might end up being wrong. :)

Posted: 7/22/09 at 3:40pmI'm just throwing this out there and saying that Cheyenne Jackson makes me moist. So happy that the contract was ironed out. And for those of you ready to blame him, when it comes to negotiating a contract, I'm sure Cheyenne's agent is involved in the process more so than he is.

No comparison whatsoever between Nick Adams and Cheyenne Jackson. The former just has a really good publicist working for him; the latter has proven himself in the last 5 years he's been in the NY scene.
This is definitely good news for me. I can't wait to get an new recording of FINIAN'S RAINBOW. I was so happily surprised at how gorgeous the score of this piece is and Kate Baldwin and Cheyenne Jackson sang and worked together beautifully in the ENOCRES presentation.

Posted: 7/22/09 at 3:49pmI just do not understand his appeal at all. And yes, I've seen him perform.

It's called negotiating, dear. Someday you may be in a position to do so too.
Or maybe not.

I believe there was a film project involved. Perhaps it fell through?
CJ is a pretty bore. I'll stick with Petula and Fred in the film or the OCR. This revival sounds like too little, too late. Judging by the marquee. . . .
