Thanks. I figured but the announcer jokes were extremely polished and it seemed scripted and no big surprise ....so it's obviously happened before.

Is there any video of the show floating around youtube or any where else? Besides, of course, the promotional footage. I don't move back to NYC til winter and I'm dying to see the special effects. And who knows if it's even still going to be playing by then...

LOL Fairy godmotother: AND NO ONES GONNA BRING MEEEEEE DOWN!!!!

First, the "announcer" was Ira Mont, the show's production stage manager, who does a great job. It was completely unscripted, and it has never happened before to this extent (though any show with flying encounters the occasional technical glitch, hey, it's live theater.)

Second, Hex3, I don't know when in the winter you'll be back in NY, but I'd bet good money that the show will be up AT LEAST through the holiday season. So far as I can tell from the weekly numbers, it's been profitable every week since previews started, some weeks more than others. Annie is the show I wouldn't bet will last.

And in my opinion, (Ilovetheatertrash) while not all of Beane's attempts at humor hit home, the show is compeltely charming and romantic, and is well worth seeing. It is certainly not "god awful".

I heard Vicky Clark say in an interview that the had been terrified of heights and had to be gradually desensitized in order to handle "flying" in this show. I hope that it wasn't too upsetting to her to be stuck, suspended like that.

Speaking of clips of the show and the flying, I just saw a new commercial for the show touting the Tony noms and it had footage I haven't seen online before, the flying. I didn't see the show, but in the commercial it looks really cheap with ugly wings and that combined with the fast speed she rises up into the air while flying to the side but facing forward, it actually looks kinda creepy. Looks like she's being hoisted into the air, not believable flying like in say Mary Poppins. Maybe it's better in the theater I'm guessing, but just didn't look good to me in the commercial.

I have to agree. Considering it's a show that's so technically amazing in their quick speed costume changes on stage for Cinderella - and obviously someone worked really hard to perfect these changes, the flying seemed to almost be an afterthought.

There seemed to be no attempt to hide the wires that were holding up fairy godmother - and if you were not going to hide them, at least decorate them to fit the mood.

If it was this way in a touring production, where you have had to change theaters all the time, maybe I could understand it. But for a production that is if anything known for the "magic of gown" changes, it seemed like someone in the flying department could have figured out a better system to make that more magical as well.

Thanks, AntV, for the heads up! Now, I can't judge her flying on a half second clip, but my gods those wings! They look like something that comes along with a preteen fairy costume one would buy at party city. That costume is so wide and bottom heavy as it is, adding that much more is completely unnecessary and garish. Also, am I the only one that preferred Victoria's costume from the Macy's Parade broadcast? It had such a cool mix of color and texture. Now she just looks like (and pardon the line) she's been hosed down with pepto-bismol.
