I know it's not that long ago but I really loved the whole discussion and excitement leading up to the "A Little Night Music" revival - especially the rumours of who was going to cast as Desiree. We were told there was an 'oscar winner' attached so suddenly the amount of stars thrown around, including Kate Winslet, was incredible. Then for some reason this died down and Marin Mazzie's name was being thrown around, which of course while we most love & respect her this was a slight disappointment, then suddenly the Oscar winner came back and it was CZJ, tied with Lansbury! Incredible. Then of course following the whole journey of the show, including the unfortunate record of CZJ's performance on the Tonys but a somewhat surprising Tony win - and what seemed like an inevitable closing notice (or even an actual closing notice, I can't remember) before at the last minute Bernadette and Elaine announcing to step in after the show was on hiatus for 2 weeks. The wonder of Bernadette's Clowns, the novelty of seeing Elaine on stage but all the controversy/antics surrounding her performance - the lack of accent, the dropped lines. Finally, the show closing and turning a profit. And then the somewhat follow up when Hunter appeared to build a friendship with Elaine and so there were some anecdotes or footage if I recall of Elaine's final years and the friendship that remained.

It was just a nice time here on this forum I think, and a nice time to be a Sondheim/Bernadette fan. I don't think has been replicated since for me here - the Follies revival and the most recent Company revival/journey from London might have come close, but there was just something glamorous and exciting about the Night Music revival, cast & journey.

While I know some here had an issue with the revival (e.g. the staging & thin band/'orchestra'Classic threads on this forum, I am forever grateful to have seen it with these casts in nice a glamorous and intimate venue (The Walter Kerr) - in NYC no less.

Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

Great links! Does anyone else worry that one day this forum will vanish overnight and all of these amazing discussions and links will be lost to history? just me?

The infamous "Mister pizza man" story that a friend and I still quote.

I’m still partial to the ridiculous “Alice Ripley is a homophobe!” thread.

I often return to the Roles They Didn’t Get thread. I’m a sucker for casting trivia

I also loved all the Follies threads around the 2011 revival. Especially the one dissecting Bernadette’s red dress.

I feel most of the best ones are long gone.

Like why a black Sheila doesn't work in ACL and the latinos eating in Evita.

These threads do give me nostalgia for back when a) Members could write whatever they wanted within reason without being policed b) This board was often filled with discussions that were well-informed, passionate, and fascinating. If things really went off the deep end, or a post was really inappropriate, it got deleted, but there were great discussions. I used to really love going to this board.

I thought Corine would have made it big by now.

I just read the threads for months before I joined in May of 04 after I returned from a week long trip to NYC. I agree with The Distinctive Baritone about how the boards used to be. I learned a lot from these boards back then. I saw Caroline or Change on Broadway because of these boards.

My favorite show threads were the WICKED threads and the discussions over who would on as, or would be the next Piragua Guy in In The Heights. Those WICKED threads were a show unto themselves!

But I enjoyed all of the informative threads. Back then these boards seemed to cover everything on and off-Broadway and so many aspects of theater. I was actually terrified to join at first because for the amount of knowledge I had about theater it was nothing compared to what I learned from people here.

And there was snark! But it just didn't seem quite as nasty as in recent years.

And then there was Margo Channing. I enjoyed any thread Margo contributed to.
