If Jenn Colella DOESN'T get to reprise her role, you might as well not even make the film.

I’m not sure about this. I think what makes the show special is how the actors switching so seamlessly between characters. I doubt they would do that in the film

I completely agree, I think her performance makes the show. I am interested to see who gets cast for supporting roles, as I think some of them might be replaceable.

Completely agree. And no stars should be attached, either.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Jenn Colella could do this. She’s fantastic and I hope they consider her.

There's a law that any movie shot in Newfoundland has to have Mary Walsh in it. Americans won't understand this but Canadians are laughing cuz it's kinda true.

I really think this would work really well in a mockumentary style like Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman. Christopher Guest would do this show wonders on film

I expect it will be done on a very small budget. I expect it will feature mostly Canadians in the cast. I actually wouldn't expect Jen Collela to repeat her performance in the film. She's fabulous in the play, but its not a performance that would be appropriate for the cinema. That's also the one role that could possibly be cast with some kind of name.

Jane Lynch as Bev would be phenomenal, in my opinion.

I agree that it should be cast with relative unknowns, but Collela's performance on film would not land in the same way. Obviously it would be pulled back slightly, but I think they will find someone else.

Jenn Collela is great, but, I mean, so is the rest of the cast. She's hardly the star of the show, because there is no star. It's a true ensemble, and none of them are irreplaceable. I agree with QueenAlice, it seems like a performance better suited to the stage than the screen.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I highly doubt this is going to materialize and end up happening. Remember the Next to Normal movie?

I'd be okay with it not happening. I love it, I think it's the best show currently on Broadway, but it doesn't scream "film adaptation" to me.

They should still do that. And they should still cast Kate Winslet as Diana

Can Kate Winslet sing? Because I'd be all over any musical with her in it if she can sing.

COME FROM AWAY is making three times the money at the box office that NEXT TO NORMAL did. Even taking in rising ticket prices. There is interest.

FYI, the option of making this not a musical but still having Sankoff & Hein write the script is being considered, which would definitely work, but it’d be a different CFA as we know it.

Ain't gonna happen, which is fine by me.  Listening to her voice reminds me of the Seinfeld episode in which Mary Hart's voice causes Kramer to go into a spasmodic fit.  I sort of have a comparable -- but internalized -- reaction with Colella.  Beyond that, that is one of the roles for which they can entice a name to play the role.  I will bet that, by the time it gets to the screen, a household name will be playing it.  Not that that insures box-office success, as Nine clearly demonstrated.

I do also wonder if this isn't a piece that just isn't suited to filming, unless they go for a 'film the stage show' approach, a la L'il Abner or Top Banana...can't think of any others right this minute.

Just as the show has exceeded expectations since its first preview, I suspect that a well-reviewed movie adaptation has a much larger 'built-in' audience then NTN, although I would probably prefer myself to see N2N filmed before this (of course, I have been waiting for 45 years for a movie of Follies...as the decades have passed, my mental choices for key roles have updated to reflect current realities).

I would also prefer that Sunset Blvd. be filmed while Glenn Close is still capable of doing it and not seeming ridiculous...speaking of which, we never hear about Gypsy anymore...thank God.

There's no actual law, but she does seem to be in everything set in Nfld. Other Newfoundland actors I wouldn't be surprised to see in this movie (in walk ons, at least): Mark Critch, Cathy Jones, Andy Jones, Rick Mercer, Shaun Majumder, and, of course, Gordon Pinsent. But mostly Mary Walsh.

This is a horrible idea.

I absolutely adore this show, but this property is one that feels distinctly suited for the stage. I’ll hold out hope, but I’m not optimistic that this will be a worthwhile adaptation.

I don't even like this show (not by a long shot), and still feel protective of it in this context. The things that are appealing about it are uniquely theatrical.

I liked the show...but I agree with the rest of this post^.
