Company Cast Recording?

Is there going to be one? Did they already record it? Was wondering if anybody had heard anything? I'd be sort of happy if they haven't recorded it yet. I have a b**tleg from recently and Katrina's vocal performance and choices were 10x better than when I saw it in December.

Still no word.  I have a friend in the cast and he hasn’t heard anything regarding if they’ll get a cast recording.

I'd imagine Omicron really delayed things, I really hope it happens. Katrina's vocals are definitely at the point where they'd sound great on record.

I can’t imagine they wouldn’t.

The show is hot and the cast is STACKED. To not have it recorded would seem like such a foolish move.

I agree that it’s probably an Omicron issue that delayed it

Omicron may just have delayed the cast albums of other shows as well.

We'll just have to wait and see what ends up getting recorded or not. Keep an eye out for Broadway cast recording threads upon new releases.

So far, the only new Broadway musical productions that got cast recordings made this season are Caroline, or Change and Flying Over Sunset. Though with both of those shows, they were limited runs with a certain performer in the cast who's usually based out of the United States.

So… you’re not counting Girl From the North Country and Diana?

I just corrected my post. I meant cast recordings made this season.

I was at the show today and thought I saw a cast recording being sold. Was it a preorder? A previous production recording? A katrina lenk album? I don't know but I definitely saw some cd case on display.

It must have been the 2018 West End cast album, with Rosalie Craig. This cast has not recorded anything (hopefully not yet).

It's the London version. Completely different cast (except Patti).

I won’t be surprised if we don’t get a Broadway cast album of Company since there’s already a London cast album with Patti LuPone but I am surprised an album hasn’t been announced for The Music Man yet.

Sorry to bump this, but has anyone heard anything at all about this? I think it would be such a mistake not to record this cast. It's just a phenomenal production, and so much better than the London iteration.

I just wonder if now all the absences etc.. again will distract them into trying to keep the show afloat before the worry about a cast recording.

Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

Again, a friend of mine is in the show.  The moment he gets word about a cast recording, I promise I’ll post the news here within 5 minutes of getting the official word.  Trust me, the entire cast wants one done including LuPone.

The pandemic has had a severe effect on the recording industry. Several long-planned cast albums are on hold--including Sandy Duncan's PETER PAN.

Sandy’s endless “Who wants a PETER PAN Cast Recording?” social media polls have become annoying.

There is a good chance that this may not happen. As another poster pointed out, there is already a 2018 recording...and depending on contract negotiations, it could be a licensing issue to actually record one in the United States, currently.

I remember a while back there was a popular actor who did a musical in the United States and had it written in his contract that if they were to do a cast recording, that another  recording within in a 6 year time frame could not be done (especially if it was with another actor). Meaning if they brought the show to London with another actor or somewhere else, a Cast Album could not be made with that actor until 6 years after their Broadway actor contract ends.
