There's some interesting stuff on what looks like a new MySpace page for the Ahmanson in LA:

Darcie Roberts in the ensemble wrote a blog post saying that tech seems to be going well and they're going into costume fittings soon. And there are some nice photos of the set designs - which they say is very big (and its true the AHmanson stage is very high). It'll be interesting to see it in person - hopefully they'll put up photos as opening nears!

And they put up the TV commercial they're using for the show, too. Anyone going to previews next week? I can't... but I'd be interested in hearing reports!

yeah it sounds like it will be good. but im in summer school right now and im only working part time so even with the discounted tickets it will be a little tough to come up with the money. so if I hear some good things about it, then i will try to scrounge up the dough :)

I'm just keeping EVERYTHING crossed that this show is well-received and makes a successful transfer to Broadway. I'm really keen to see a Kander & Ebb musical in the flesh, am a big fan of DHP, and will probably have to wait till late Nov/early Dec until I get the chance to re-visit NY. Wish me luck!

I hope Ms. Roberts is at least playing the woman who gets murdered early on (great comic role) because otherwise she is being wasted in just an ensemble role.

She's not playing the woman who gets murdered, but Darcie Roberts is understudying Karen Ziemba (who is playing a Betty Comden-like author of the show within the show).

What is your dream role? My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

I'm SO excited for this, but, a sidenote:

What is Darcie Roberts doing in the ensemble??!?!? She was Fanny in a past TUTS production of FUNNY GIRL in Houston and she was absolutley AMAZING!! I'm glad she's got work but she needs to get out of the chorus!!!!

Well, Erin played Nikki in the workshops in 2002 and 2005. I spoke to her right after the 2002 workshop, and she said she really loved the role.

Thanks for the link. I saw Dilly in one NYC workshop and she was perfection. But this cast sounds great too...I just want the best for Darcie, who I think is amazingly talented.

Edit: This is actually the 2nd time I've done something like that. Recently, on a discussion board about Kate Bush, I said she had a sister Paddy. When I know Paddy is a boy's name and I've known the fact that he is her brother for 30 years.

FYI - Curtains, especially the preview days, is also available on Goldstar. They are 1/2 price plus a service fee.

They are a bit more expensive than HotTix, but probably you will probably have a better view. Often, the HotTix are very far to the right or left.

I saw a reading of it last fall and it is HYSTERICAL.

Definitely hope it does well in a full staging so that it comes to NYC.
