Just wondering, how is Dee Roscioli in "The Cher Show"? Both times I saw the show in Chicago, she was never on, only Stephanie J. Block. I enjoyed her the numerous times I saw her in "Wicked" as Elphaba. Does she bring the same type of Cher swagger that Stephanie does?
On another thread it’s mentioned she does a decent Cher but lacks the stage presence Stephanie has. Stephanie projects an electricity that helps carry the show. Dee just performs the role as written.
Dee's been on all week as Block is on vacation. Grab a ticket for tonight or tomorrow and find out for yourself.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I saw Dee this week in The Cher Show and was looking forward to seeing her take as "Star." I felt that she was good, but lacks in her portrayal as Cher. She couldn't do the voice (speaking and singing) or have any of her mannerisms. I would like to her portrayal as Lady, as I think she could do really well with that.
Saw Dee about a month ago during a Wednesday matinee, and while the show was cute, I left the theatre asking myself why everyone is saying SJB is going to run away with the Tony in a role that was somewhat forgettable when we saw it. She must be delivering a tremendous performance. Loved Ms. Diamond in the show! Saw Dee as Mrs. Lovett in a regional production a few years back-she was great!
It’s been on TDF regularly for a few weeks now, I saw it two weeks ago with Stephanie. I enjoy Dee quite a lot but I would pretty heartbroken if SJB was out - she’s so special in the role.
So, the only way I can describe Dee in the role is that if SJB is a 10/10, Dee is hovering around a 6.
She can certainly adequately sing the role, but doesn’t nail the humor like SJB does and the inflection of her voice is a bit off. Many jokes that had audiences rolling the first time fell flat because of a slightly awkward delivery.
I feel like Dee could get much better as Star if she rehearsed the role more and maybe was a more steady alternate. However, I feel like she would nail Lady more naturally if given the chance.
