Interesting that this is happening so close on the heels of a major movie that covered the exact same topic.

We’re running out of ideas and I’m bored.

The 2024 film SATURDAY NIGHT was entirely just about the chaos that started 90 minutes prior to the show’s very first episode. It had zero to do with the creation of the show, or the casting of the Not Ready for Prime Time Players, or the writers, etc. This play looks to be about all the things the film SATURDAY NIGHT wasn’t.
I’m a huge fan of SNL but after all the 50th anniversary specials and the aforementioned film, I can’t be the only one who’s SNL’d out. There’s not much more mystery to unravel here.

It's the 50th anniversary of the show, so I imagine that jump-started a lot of the interest.

As a proud member of Quaid Army, I find myself mostly in agreement with Seth Myers's catchphrase "An Golden Era:" the show leans far too hard on the mythology of the first five years, when those weren't truly "THE shining golden era" that deifies itself and eclipses everything else. Instead, every few years we find "AN golden era" that deserves to be celebrated the way sports teams have good eras, not a singular era when they were great.

There’s documentaries, tv specials, books, podcasts, etc. This isn’t exactly new or fascinating territory being covered.

So maybe this isn't a show for you? Others (myself included) may be interested, even if we're already familiar with some of the details. Do you bitch and moan about movies that are set during WW II?? I mean after all, many of us know how it turned out!

I agree with you. I think The Music Man, Footloose, Chocolat, and Cars all share a basic plotline (radical newcomer challenges a conservative community, to the benefit of everyone after a period of conflict), but they're all enjoyable in very different ways.

Does anyone know when tickets for this show will be on sale?

Yeah, that’s basically what was said in my comment…?
I know this is a theatre board, but take the dramatics down a notch. One sentence stating this isn’t new territory being covered in hardly “bitching and moaning”. I don’t know if you’re personally involved with the show or what the source of this reaction is, but if it actually bothers you that someone shares a different opinion on a message board, I suggest you look inward. Have a good rest of your week.

I have nothing to add except "Righteous kill!" LOL
This has a Thursday matinee. I'll be interested in reading early reviews. I enjoyed that movie even though it was fairly slight.
