Disney and Revivals

Do you think Disney will ever revive one of their shows. It doesn't seem like something Disney would do. Especially since most of their previous shows have now ended up being licensed out to amateur theatres and high schools. Weren't they planning on Beauty and the Beast revival, which ultimately fell through? I wouldn't mind a revival of Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast or Aida, though.

No idea what licensing has to do with it. Nearly all shows are available for licensing after they close their initial run. A revival or even major tour simply puts those rights on restriction, changing who can do it .

I'll take you word for it. But what do you mean "new projects", plural? I didn't think there was anything apart from Frozen currently planned, was there? Hunchback got effectively shelved, and Hercules didn't get much traction outside these boards.

Currently Frozen is their only active new production, but there's always something on the back burner.

When the Neaderlander's forced Disney's handing in closing The Little Mermaid to make way for The Addams Family, there was a rumor that Disney was considering a limited holiday revival of Beauty and the Beast.

I would also not be suprised if/when Disney finds a way to make The Little Mermaid work either technology or you know doing the hard work of rewriting some of the book and some of the score, that they would rush the production to Broadway. I honestly think Schumacher sees The Little Mermaid as his white whale, as it make so much sense on paper, but just fails epically when translated to the stage.

Actually If they were doing any Disney Christmas limited run. I'd like to see beauty and the beast. The enchanted Christmas work for the Broadway stage. Best Disney sequel ever!
