I'd love to see a revival at some point. I have a soft spot for it since it was my first Broadway show.

I would love a Miss Saigon revival. I was actually thinking about it the other day.

How exactly did the characters climb into the helicopter projection on the tour? Did they sort of inconspicuously sidle off stage to be replaced by projected people?

I would love to see the scaled down almost re-imagined version of the show that they did for the Australia that was overseen by Cameron himself. The whole Idea being that the first tour in Oz could only go to a handful of theatres since it was based on the massive original production and there were only a few theatres in the country that could house a massive tour thus reducing the touring market. Instead, they gave the show a total re tool which I heard went over pretty well. Including some animation that fit in with the action going on on the stage and the on stage chopper scene went over pretty well.

That is something that I would like to see. A re tooled version of a show we all know and love.

The tour from the UK was very good, it was slightly scaled down but it worked since it let the show shine rather than the set. The helicopter on the screen however was a bit naff, the problem they had is they still tried to show the actors jumping in to the helicopter, so all you could see were a few people jumping towards the screen, it looked silly.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

yeah the screen projected helicopter looked wierd... and the marines trying to go inside it was just odd... but the entire sequence itself was still pretty incredible

i will say this... i HATED the use of the projection during The American Dream... it just didn't work for me and it looked really really cheesy... i'm sure they could've thought of some other way to stage that number without having to use background projections that were pretty distracting and bad!

oh and i loved the new staging of Morning of the Dragon!

"Yeah, eventually. But not yet."

Yet there's a revival of GYPSY every 10 minutes. And they're readying LA CAGE AUX FOLLES for its second revival in less than 5 years. Why not MISS SAIGON? It's as topical and relevant today as when it was first produced; if not more so.

I hadn't heard about the scaled down versions mentioned, but I would love to see it happen on Broadway. It would really drive the story home and make for a very intimate and moving piece of theatre.

I hope it gets revived VERY soon. The music is incredible. I've seen it 5 times (Toronto, London, 1st and 2nd National) and was moved every time.

I agree that seeing it re-imagined would be fantastic. Not sure how I feel about animation and large screens in the background, but I would love to see a fresh new design. Maybe in the round once Spiderman closes at the Hilton?

I wish people would get over the helicopter. So many people mention it when referring to the show. Yes, it was a part of the show and part of the original design logo, but it is not even close to a show "about" a helicopter.

I would love that! The projection was fine, but I agree "The American Dream" ones weren't so great. I really liked what I've seen of the recent Manila production, maybe they could base it on that?
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

eatlasgna - that is funny.

CSonBroadway - RENT almost literally just closed and in the eyes of producers, it has never really gone away being that the tour is still in full swing for at least another 6 months. I would day it is far more likely that a Broadway revival of Miss Saigon will happen before a revival of RENT. (not that I don't enjoy RENT).

Having seen both the original London production, and the reduced production that toured Oz in 06/07, I preferred the understated tour.

They used the basic set from the UK tour, but included the car in American Dream, and redid the Helicopter scene - it was done very cleverly.

I would love for the tour to sit-down in either New York or London.
