Hell, he looked bored when I saw him at the final preview.

"It's 54 Below, for god's sake, not some hole in the wall."
I want to be on record as loving holes in walls.
I have noted it. Do you love holes in walls featuring Steve Kazee?
Some performers seem to be staying with shows longer these days. Carney has been with SPIDERMAN for 2.5 years; Montego Glover was with MEMPHIS its entire run (just under three years); Nikki James has been with MORMON over two years and doesn't seem to be going anywhere; Judy McLane has been in MAMMA MIA for almost a decade, first as Tanya and now as Donna. Greg Jbara and Carole Shelley were in BILLY ELLIOTT for almost the entire run. I guess there really is something to say about a steady paycheck, even in the face of originating new roles.
Good money is good money. He's young. He's in a decently popular show on Broadway, gets fans at the door every night. Its better than playing dive bars driving around in a van.
Since when was turning in a solid performance for an extended time a bad thing?
Isabel Keating who plays Aunt May is still with the show.
I love how most people here think it is so terrible that he is STILL a LEAD in a BROADWAY show. Get real people. That chance is so rare. Not to mention he's raking it in, making much more than scale.

As are Michael Mulheren, Ken Marks, Dana Marie Ingraham, Ari Loeb, Kevin Loomis, Jodi McFadden, Kristen Faith Oei, Sean Samuels, Kristin Martin, Gerald Avery, Kevin Aubin, and Christopher Tierney, if the show's website is up to date.

Look at Marlene Danielle who was in the Broadway production of Cats for the whole 18 years it ran. Maybe he just loves his paycheck, plus it can't bee too bad fighting the green goblin AND singing you guys out 6 times a week.(:

I never said it was a bad thing. I just thought he might've wanted to move on, is all. If he wants to stay with the show, good for him. I just thought he might want to make more of a name for himself.
rorschach, it seems to be a concept that many find difficult to comprehend; I think many people seem to believe that actors (like non-artists) really want nothing more than a steady paycheck.
The notion that an artist needs to constantly refresh himself in the public's eye, to consistently put himself out there in new projects - in order to become a "star" rather than a one-hit wonder or invisible cog - that seems to be difficult to comprehend.

What happened to Jennifer Holiday?
Nothing really - she just wheels herself out to sing that one song whenever she can get paid for it.

Chances are it is a tough choice he makes every time his contract is up for renewal. On one hand, a lead role in a Broadway show and steady pay is a great thing. On the other hand, the need to try new things and create a continuing career for yourself is also important. He won't be young enough to play the role forever. It depends on where his personal priorities are right now. It seems to me, for the time being, that he wants/needs the cash and steady work.
This is what happened to Jennifer Holliday...
With London, Broadway, and the tour, I think Gavin Lee was with Mary Poppins for 5 or 6 years.
I imagine Reeve Carney is making a lot more money than he ever has before. Maybe he's trying to save enough money to get him through potentially tough times after he leaves the show.
What do you mean - rehab?
