It has not yet been announced, although I am sure that Saycon will be the replacement since they are leaning towards a more "black Elphie". Hopefully, Shoshana won't be leaving for a LOOOONG time because she is so natural in that role and is SO much better live than anyone else to have played the part.

Sho should/will stay for as long as possible. She is definitley the most talented actress and singer to tackle the role so far.

I talked to someone who asked Saycon at the stage door, and she said she will be taking over...but it's so far away, who knows what could happen.

I know that her contract ends in Jan. and I think the specific date is Jan 8. I loved both Idina and Shoshana but if Saycon's taking over, I really want to see her!

It's so far away, it's anyone's guess.

I doubt Shoshana will extend because she wants to push her music career and she said on her website she most likely will not extend. Saycon might move onto better things. I'm not sure how long she's contracted for, but she's been there as long as Shoshana and if I recall Shoshana was hired in September I believe and her original standby contract was over in March, so if standby contracts are only 6 months, Saycon probably will move on since it will be around September.

Who knows, maybe they'll have an understudy do the role for a month or so and then grab Stephanie J. Block after her contract ends for the tour.

Eden definitely won't be the replacement...she's already said that. The clip I heard of Saycon was so phenomenal, I would love to hear what she could do with that role if she had the time to really get into it...that's awesome.

Just curious...what does Saycon do to make money since she isn't an understudy?

My hope is that Stephanie takes over on Broadway, leaving Jenna to headline the tour. Both actresses have proven they can hold their own in the role, and I would love for Jenna to come back to Toronto so i could see her as Elphie again.

I don't think Steph will bc she wants to do Piece. But I would like to see Jenna come to New York, bc then I could see her and I want to so badly! And who knows if Saycon really is gonna get it... Laura Bell Bundy was slated to take over after Kristin and look what happened there? But who really cares anyway. For all we know, none of them could get it and they'll bring in Britney Spears. (I'm kidding. At least, I would hope that the producers would be smarter than that... but then again, you never know.)

I'm glad that Stephanie will do Piece. I don't know who will take over but they will find someone talented. Maybe they will finally Kristy Cates a chance. I just hope that Britney Spears never steps on to a Broadway stage.

Standbys are paid even when they don't go on. They get paid so much money for each performance they do, added on to their usual weekly intake.

First off, Kristy will take over for Ana in Chicago, therefore she can't do Broadway. As for who I think will take over, Jenna Leigh Green. She's somewhat of a name and she's amazing. I think, if the rumor that Ava Schlink is trying out for Elphaba is true, Ava will become her standby, from the Rent tour. Who should be Elphaba? Leslie Kritzer, Karmine Alers, and Caren Lyn Manuel.

I honestly think that Saycon will leave before Shoshana's contract is up, and either Brandi or someone new will become the Standby. It is my guess that whoever is the standby when Sho leaves will replace her.


But who do I want? Caren Lyn, duh. BUT if all goes well, She'll be busy with "Once Around the Sun"

just to correct somenoe, Shoshana said on her fansite, in the Q&A section it's too soon to tell if she's extending or not, she never said she was or she wasn't.
