Gosh, those were the days. When you could be poor and want to see a Broadway show, so you'd get in that long line on a hot day and pay a great price for a show.
How I long for the old days.

As long as regular ticket prices cintinue to go up, so will TKTS prices. It is not their fault.

Bottom line is $ 70 is better than $ 130 & above
Until the price of regular ticket prices stabilizes, TKTS will continue to reflect the higher prices.It is beyond their control.

Posted: 9/4/09 at 8:23pmIt is still half price. Well, sometimes it's 30 or 40 percent off during the busier months, but the majority of the time shows keep it at 50 percent off.

Broadway is much dearer than the West End, for a top price seat in London it is about $100,so a ticket a TKTS works out to be about $50.
My annual jaunt to Broadway is very expensive, but hell sometimes you have to hang the price.

Posted: 9/4/09 at 9:53pmI've only used it twice, just recently for Ruined. It was cheaper than the discount code online, but I wish they had a sign saying they only accepted cash for those tickets.

Posted: 9/4/09 at 11:07pmI used to go all the time - pay 50 bucks for a ticket and thought it was great. For two of us to get to a show, even using TKTS, including transportation, is 200 bucks EASY. Yes, it's better than full price, but no way is that cheap!

Posted: 9/4/09 at 11:08pmGetting a discount code from online and going directly to the box office is the best deal nowadays I've come to learn. You avoid a lot of the extra fees and mainly get the best discount. There's also rushes, but those seem to be disappearing more and more...

Yes, this actually happened to me once, too. It's something to do with the ticketing service that handles Ruined. I was all set to buy a ticket to Ruined until the man told me it was $41.50 cash only.
With regards to the TKTS prices in general, as someone pointed out, for the most part, the discounts are no less than they were before, but because the ticket prices themselves have gone up, a 50% off ticket will cost a lot more than it did just ten years ago!

I was just reflecting today on when I was younger and it was fun to stand in that line with friends and pay not a lot of money to see a great show, that's all. Sadly it wasn't even all that long ago that I paid $35 to sit in the front mezz for TITANIC (which I think was the last time I used them)
