If they're continuing with "caucasian Tony nominees/winners over 55" (who've starred in more recent musicals than Betty B, and don't mean much at the box office) --
Beth Leavel
Judy Kaye
Faith Prince
Debra Monk
Carolee Carmello
Harriet Harris
Nancy Opel
Randy Graff
Dee Hoty
Isabel Keating
Saying it now before people bring it up again: Donna Murphy and Bernadette Peters ain't gonna do this on the road.

But what about Bette Midler

I'd fly to Kansas (I hate Kansas) to see Carolee Carmello play the part

She’s done after the Boston stop in August

I dislike both, but I was talking about Kansas City in Kansas state, lol (Americans really need to name their cities less confusingly, man)

She doesn't have the name recognition, but I would love to see Harriet Harris do the part.

I think folks are getting their hopes up. I'm pretty sure the understudies will be getting a bump. This tour has not done well. Even though folks like Leavel and Carmello are not household names, they are successful, respected and lauded working NYC actresses with sizable price tags. They ain't going on the road for peanuts. I think the producers are gonna bump standbys and understudies for modest salary increases.

While I wouldn't be shocked to hear the tour not selling well, where did you get this info? I do know for the Boston run tickets just went on sale and they are not difficult to get at all.

Jumping off the points made by BettyBoy and others, it really comes down to:
-- is it flipping to a SETA tour?
-- Is Rudin producing the next leg of it, or is some tour production company buying it out?
If it's still Rudin, I could see him wanting to pony up the dough to pay "a Nancy Opel type" $3K a week, to get a good solid performer in the lead role, good reviews, and some press opportunities. If a company like Troika takes it over, they'd probably just bump up the understudies or cast people out of an EPA and pay them scale. (I'm sure Klea Blackhurst would do it in a second.)

I have friends in many of the tour cities who reported small houses when they saw it. It has popped up on Goldstar and other discount sites. I called Charlotte as my sister lives there and Im considering going. They said sales were modest and I could wait if I wasn't sure.

Oh and also - I'd also like to throw in Keala Settle's name in the hat. She'd be on the younger side, but would be a fantastic, magnetic Dolly (who now have a somewhat recognizable name/face because of The Greatest Showman)

They have a lot of split weeks for the 2019-2020 schedule. That's an indication that it'll be a SETA tour.

I've seen [random] social media posts over the past few days that imply Carolee is the next tour Dolly. Take with a grain of salt...but it would certainly be exciting casting for the theatre world!

I've been seeing social media posts as well the past few days, but today they've really picked up. I hope it's true, she'd be a marvelous Dolly!
