What you should do Broadway Lady is write to Margo Lion and tell her you want to see the show in Sept. Maybe they will extend it till the end of Sept and then I can take a large group to see it. Please. Tell Margo Lion you want to see it in Sept!
Margo Lion is just one of many of CAROLINE's producers. Here's the list:
-- Carole Shorenstein Hays -- HBO -- Jujamcyn Theaters (James H. Binger: Chairman; Rocco Landesman: President; Paul Libin: Producing Director; Jack Viertel: Creative Director) -- Freddy De Mann -- Scott Rudin -- Ruth Hendel -- Elisabeth Morten -- Cheryl Wiesenfeld -- Fox Theatricals -- Jennifer Manocherian -- Jane Bergère -- Roger Berlind -- Clear Channel Entertainment -- Joan Cullman -- Greg Holland -- Scott Nederlander -- Margo Lion -- Daryl Roth -- Frederick Zollo -- Jeffrey Sine
If you would like to contact all of them and offer to buy a few million dollars worth of tickets (running costs are roughly $350K per week) to make it worth their while to stay open during the very slow months of September and October and early to mid November (for which they had virtually no advance ticket sales) until the tourists come back for the holiday season in late November and December, then go right ahead -- they'll probably accept (once the check clears). Otherwise, you can drop them all notes thanking them for sacrificing a few hundred thousand dollars a piece to bring this wonderful work to Broadway and giving a larger audience a chance to see and be inspired by it.

I was in New York several weeks ago and had the opportunity to see Caroline, or Change. I thought it was wonderful, which really says a lot because I don't like most Musicals. Where I think Assassins is a wonderful piece, it is the type of piece that should only play for a limited time. I am really hoping that I get to see "Pacific Overtures." It is one of my favorites.
For me, the biggest surprise is that Freddy DeMann (Madonna's ex-manager for 15-odd years) was one of the producers.

I had the privilege of seeing the show on friday and loved it. The show was different then most other shows I have seen on broadway and I really appreciated that. It really pisses me off that it's closing. I tried to do my part.
I believe it was on either these boards, or the ATC boards.. apparantely, someone had asked at the box office if she was cancelling her vacation (orinally planned from the 22nd-29th), and the answer was that as far as they know...she was still taking it??!!! Well, if the plan was to close the 29th, and she is going to be out starting the 22nd.... hmmmm????
I just called Telecharge and the person on the phone checked the cast notes for CAROLINE and said that there was nothing listed for Pinkins or anyone else being out or on vacation on 8/29.
