Thanks for posting the video of Donna. Gosh I just love her! I'll be seeing her again on the 12th. I totally enjoyed her performance as Dolly. If I still lived in NYC, I would definitely attend her final performance.

I haven't had the chance to see her, but she is so incredibly kind to her fans on social media. She's responded to at least one of my tweets congratulating her/wishing her well/welcoming her back.
What a great interview. I've seen this production four times and was in it in high school and I got chills when she talked about 'Dancing' and how that's when it all hits Dolly - seeing these two young couples falling in love. Just.. beautiful.
Seeing Hello, Dolly! Is one of the highlights of my NYC theater-going experiences. In fact, seeing it with Bette in November (and with Bernadette in February) is right up at the top of the list with seeing the OBC of Hamilton. I’d love to see it with Donna, but, alas, I won’t be back in NYC before it closes.
I got to see Donna in the show again yesterday, and just like the first time, I don't think any other actress will "be" Dolly to me the way that she is. Pitch-perfect, comic, and dramatic performance that left me floating on air as I left the Shubert.

Completely agree! She was fabulous on sunday!

This is great to hear! I saw Donna perform last summer during Bette's week off on vacation and Donna was amazing! I hope to get to see her before she leaves but sadly I'm away most weekends this summer.

I thank Bette Midler because she's really the only reason why we're able to see Donna Murphy play this iconic role.
Before I saw the show with Bette, during previews, I knew very little about Dolly! That experience was one of the most entertaining nights I've ever had in the theatre. I saw it again with Bette 2 months later, and it was nearly as enjoyable, but not quite. 3 weeks after that, I saw the show with Donna, and she was a revelation in the role. That was the night I fell in love with the show. I would've gone to her final performance in January, but it was in the middle of a particularly harsh winter, so I'm beyond thrilled to attend her FINAL final performance. She's MY Dolly Levi.

I agree. Do not miss the opportunity to see either of these ladies. I am of the opinion that what Bette brings to the table to this show can't be touched by anyone. It's about a total different experience. And I mean this as a compliment to both ladies. The "one is better than the other" thing is total BS and unnecessary. There is a old Bette interview on the Larry King show in which she talks about having seen Donna Murphy in Wonderful Town and some other shows and about her being a huge fan. I imagine it is such a thrill for her to share the roll with Donna. What a great time this is that we can see such different stars in such a beautiful show. Go see this show.

Agreed. One doesn't have to be "better" than the other. Everybody provides different experiences that either touches you or doesn't. Bette, I can imagine, brings sheer star power and presence to the role and on that stage that one cannot compare. I hear she plays that dinner scene especially with the turkey leg extremely well and has the audience in the palm of her hands. Donna Murphy, conversely, will provide a totally different experience.
Might try and catch Donna again this Sunday. What's their rush policy again and where are the seats for Donna's performances?

I agree with this, and sorry if my prior post implied I didn't like Bette's portrayal! Donna simply transcends the role for me, but both actresses (all three, when we include Bernadette!) have brought such different interpretations to Dolly that it's difficult to compare. The fact we got a revival with such powerhouse actresses is amazing.
Did anybody get the chance to see Linda Mugleston in the role? I think she only performed once if I am mistaken.

Sadly, Lind Mugleston is the only Broadway DOLLY I've missed since 1964
I felt bad for when Linda went on. The performance was delayed due to people leaving the theater and getting refunds. But I'd love to see current u/s Carmen Ruby Floyd in the role.

She went on as Mrs Rose this past Sunday when I saw it, and I agree; I think she'd be a very good Dolly.
