LIFE GOES ON theme song? LOL! Wonder what Patti thought of that.
Is anyone else upset a bit over the "dig" at Jerry Herman, from Sonia Freedman about it being "just a play?"
Aside from all the Memphis love, I'm actually pretty happy with the awards this year.
Patti for Tony Host! hahah... it might save some CBS airtime.

wow it was like being there i am so happy for chrisor frized go mainer.
This Montego/Catherine Tony race is going to be FUN.
Well I think "...Life Goes On" was also played for those who lost. Loved it!
She wasn't joking around. She kept that thing moving.
I loved that Patti megamix.
Well it has been fun watching this with all of you! Thanks for starting the thread Mildred. I think a nightcap is in order and then I need to call Eddie to console him...! :)
Catherine Zeta-Jones: Outer Critics Circle Award and Drama Desk Award. Charles Isherwood predicts she 'Will Win.'
Montego Glover: Outer Critics Circle Award and Drama Desk Award. Ben Brantley predicts she 'Will Win.'
They are really deadlocked. We still need some more critics' predictions. Can Sherie be ruled out yet?

Word on the street is indeed for Montego Glover. This is the time we remind ourselves how meaningless awards are and that the best rarely ever win...
^ So unbelievably true, MB.
MG should seek an acting coach asap. She seems like a lovely woman, and she can sing, but she really cannot act at all.
What a joke. The idea that Memphis is the "best" anything is really laughable.
This horrible season needs to be over.
"Patti better make this sh*t good. The past 2 years have been horrible."
When i watched clips of when Kristin hosted the audience hardly laughed. some looked like staunch snobs, some were texting and looked very bored. they almost looked disrespectful. this would have to be better or do the same types go all the time?
Zeta-Jones being out this week with so many voters in town could give Glover a significant edge.
Some Tony voters also could have seen ALNM during the winter.
"Is it just me or is her accent WAY thicker than usual?"
ugh! her accent comes and goes when she wants it to. it usually is more american when she golfs with her husband in matching toggs
For whatever it's worth - I was sitting by a large group of people in town for the Broadway League Road Conference this week (not neccesarily Tony voters, but still) and we talked about the shows they'd all seen. They all LOVED Memphis - said it was the show everyone was buzzing about. Also . . .
A Little Night Music was boring, but several people said they enjoyed Zeta-Jones and Lansbury.
Promises, Promises got mixed reactions overall (many agreed it is too long) except for Katie Finneran whom everyone loved.
Most didn't see La Cage, but the ones who did really enjoyed it.
All agreed The Addams Family was terrible (a few said they left at intermission) but they would definitely be booking the tour into their theaters because the tickets will sell.
None of them saw Fela. Most seemed only vaguely aware of it and weren't all that interested.
They also mentioned that, since plays don't usually tour, they can't really justify seeing non-musicals since this was a business trip for them. If they could see a play though, the number one choice for almost everyone was A Behanding in Spokane.
^ Yeah, that's great and all. But it's impossible to know what 700 voters will choose.
well, great for Viola and Katie. both deserved.
Still ecstatic about the Christopher Fitzgerald win. I wonder if this can come true at the Tony Awards...

WHO KEEPS VOTING FOR MONTEGO GLOVER?! I ask you! What voters saw that performance and said to themselves, "This. THIS gets my vote." I REALLY want to know. Over Scott, Noll, Baldwin and yes, even CZJ, whom I hated, but hated far less than Glover, who keeps voting for her?
Another interesting race is...
Denzel Washington: Outer Critics Circle Award
Alfred Molina: Drama League Award
Liev Schreiber: Drama Desk Award

Theatreguy, did anyone mention anything about Come Fly Away? Seems like it would be a good one to tour. Congrats to Twyla! I couldn't watch tonight, a few people said that she had a nice speech, what did she say? Is the feed from tonight available for replay?
