Best Play: August: Osage County is a shoo-in.
Best Lead Actor: Mark Rylance over Patrick Stewart; people liked Mark's work more, and were more surprised by his performance
Best Lead Actress: Deana Dunagan and Amy Morton might just split the vote, and S. Epatha will win; I'd like for Kate Fleetwood to win. I'm hoping for a four way tie! I'll predict Deana...
Best Featured Actor: Raul Esparza, it will be "we're sorry for snubbing you last year, here is your consolation tony!" Conleth Hill & Jim Norton will split votes.
Best Featured Actress: Mary McCormack, but I would be happy with any of these terrific actresses winning the award.
Best Director: Anna D. Shapiro, but I secretly loved Maria Aitken's sly direction of The 39 Steps.
Best Revival: Boeing-Boeing - well, I've got eat crow on this one; I honestly thought it was ridiculous that this show was being revived!! It's a delight!
Best Scenic Design: Peter McKintosh for The 39 Steps - clever sets that add enormously to the fun!
Best Costume Design: Katrina Lindsay for her period costumes of Les Liaisons; I'd vote for Peter McKintosh, though.
Best Lighting Design: Kevin Adams for The 39 Steps - the design elements were SO entertaining, and added so much to the show!
Best Sound Design: Mic Pool for The 39 Steps. 'Nuff Said!
Best Musical: Xanadu could win but I suppose it is more likely to go to In The Heights. If Passing Strange wins I will throw my t.v. set out the window! (I'm having my yearly Tony party so that will be a great ending to the evening!). My gut says that the voters who want a role in a tony winner will vote for Xanadu.
Best Book: XANADU! Douglas Carter Beane! He SO deserves it!
Best Score: In The Heights, please, Buddha, no, not Passing Strange! Yuck!
Best Lead Actor: Daniel Evans will be the brit winner this year.
Best Lead Actress: Patti Lu, of course! There is no contest!
Best Featured Actor: Robin DeJesus over Boyd Gaines, simply because Gaines has won 3 allready and Robin was so much fun!
Best Featured Actress: Laura Benanti is a lock, but I'd vote for Olga.
Best Director: Arthur Laurents will be the surprise winner, I think he's 89? Bartlett Sher, otherwise.
Best Choreography: Andy Blankenbuehler is a sure thing.
Best Orchestrations: I hate it, but Stew & Heidi Rodewald will win a tony for this piece of garbage, one of the worst shows I've ever been subjected to in my life. I want In The Heights to win.
Best Scenic Design: Sunday In The Park With George! AMAZING!
Best Costume Design: David Farley for SITPWG.
Best Lighting Design: It's between Ken Billington for SITPWG, and Donald Holder for SP - look for Donald to win.
Best Sound Design: Scott Lehrer for SP, but I would choose Sebastian Frost for SITPWG.
