This is a real letdown when you consider their casting for other gala shows. I like Solea but this feels like second national tour casting. Maybe there will be a bigger name for Che.

I love Solea Pfeiffer but I do admit that for City Center's gala I expected casting to be much more starry. And to be honest I can't really see Solea doing Evita, which seems a different style from what she's done in the past but I'm excited to see how it turns out.
I have no idea who she is. If any Pfeiffer is gonna do it, it should be Michelle.

I loved Solea Pfeiffer‘s performances in Songs for a New World and the recent Camelot benefit. Excited to hear her sing this! I still wish they’d have her do the whole show... i don’t think 15-33 calls for two actresses and I’ve always thought much of the appeal of Evita is getting to watch one powerhouse actress perform the entire arc but, oh well! Still excited.

Oh god I'm gonna hate this

The character of Evita is only under the age of 20 for about twenty minutes of the musical, so I’m intrigued what their angle is on this. But please God let this not be some #metoo mis-interpretation that implies Eva’s self destruction was all because of how men treated her when she was underage. I really don’t need to see the “Eva Peron as victim” production of EVITA.

No matter what the production will be like, I can not wait to hear Solea sing this score. She's such a great talent.

i second the request. Seems a decided lack of enthusiasm for this announcement but I’ve always loved the music for the show. For an affordable tixs, I wouldn’t mind seeing their performance.
I definitely agree the majority of this cast is quite underwhelming.... however...... if you don't know Solea Pfeiffer, you definitely should. Take a listen to her main songs from Songs For A New World. Breathtaking vocals. She will be a stunning Eva. Here's to hoping that an equally strong choice is made for Che....

As written, EVITA is an opportunist and never has any production made her out to be a “victim.” She was fully aware of her actions and no man ever used her. It was the other way around. She’s manhandling Magaldi when she’s 15 in order to tag along with him when he’s heading back to Buenos Aires. If anything, he’s trying to avoid her advances. The lyrics instruct the action so it’s impossible to present things any other way. Not at any time does he remotely hint at taking advantage of her. You must have meant, the way SHE treated men.
Brody, I one hundred percent agree with your interpretation of the text as written. What I meant is that my fear is that in this “bold new vision” they will use this “secondary Eva” to somehow play against the text. I mean I guess I just don’t know what to make of this statement in the press release:
Through a bold new vision, Cannold will utilize visual storytelling to explore new depths within the text and provide a unique perspective on Eva's troubled adolescence as it lurks behind her dazzling adult triumphs.
I feel a bit confused because they’re so close in age...yes, Solea is 24 or 25, but by no means does she read so much older that they need a younger actress to play younger Eva, unless they plan on having some kind of silly gimmick like having Eva “duet with herself.”
The upside is that Solea is a stunning performer and this puts her a step closer to Broadway. I thought for sure she’d replace in Hamilton by now, but c’est la vie. Hopefully 2020 is her year and Almost Famous will be her ticket.

Just curious, to everyone who thinks this casting is boring who would you have preferred to see in the role?

Not sure what happened to the demographic that reads this site, but everyone disappointed that Lady Gaga isn't doing this, guess what? More seats for me! These ladies are very talented and I am certainly more interested in seeing her than seeing Michelle Pfeiffer butchering this amazing score.

I don't think Jordan was seriously saying that Michelle Pfeiffer should do it. It was just a play on the name "Pfeiffer." Get it?

I think tickets have been on sale for quite some time now.
