Stunt Cast Damien??? Are you kidding. This is a really important role that requires a really talented person as far as I am concerned
James Charles as Damian tho....

Just got out of the evening show. Few things:
They did change/take out some lines that seem to also line up with the tour.
The cast was AMAZING tonight, but I also saw Casey Nicholaw in the lobby right after the first act.
Kate Rockwell just always has the best comedic timing and that is the hill I will die on.
Cameron Dallas. His acting is good, his voice needs work. Especially during his little diets with Regina and Cady (Til Someone Gets Hurt, Stupid With Love (Rperise). “More Is Better” wasn’t bad, but I’m going to chalk the others up to nerves. I think he could be in good shape by the end of the week!
Also a note about Barrett—she was amazing. Vocally—absolutely amazing. Didn’t seem bored at all or anything.

To do what? Revenge Party and the floss dance?
No disrespect to Grey, but this is not a hard role to stunt cast.

This sounds like it could fit her: [ANN/JUDITH] Female, any ethnicity, early 20s. Clare’s daughter. Coloratura soprano with belt. PRINCIPAL
That said, her engagement in MEAN GIRLS ends 2/22 and SUNSET begins 3/12. Not impossible to juggle both, but sort of unusual to jump directly from one to the other without a break. Perhaps that rumor was about a new-to-Erika role, or a new musical aiming for Broadway?

Since she's done Cady for 2 years, I can easily see her doing double duty up until Sunset starts tech at the Beaumont. Also makes sense why she just took vacation, as there wouldn't be a day/week off in between. Good for her!
You have to be pretty adequate at tap in order to make "Stop" work. Damian isn't a role that can go to someone who isn't a fairly experienced dancer. So, no, not the easiest to stunt cast.

I'm pretty sure Grey doesn't actually tap in the show though. He said in an interview or maybe on one of the vlogs (i don't remember) that the ensemble makes him look good as he pretends to tap. I don't think he's wearing shoes that actually make sound. I could be wrong but I remember him saying something to that effect early on in an interview.

I remember Grey posting something about how he tapped so hard during that number that a piece of the stage floor got lodged between the sole of his shoe and the tap so I’m pretty sure he’s actually tapping.

Oh, my bad. I must be misremembering who was in the interview - perhaps it was someone from a different show! It was awhile ago now but just read some interviews of Grey saying tap is his strength so you're probably correct.

Not sure if I saw this on here or some social media outlet, but could it be possible that she's leaving to go into Flying Over Sunset?

I totally disagree. Damian does the narrative of the entire show pretty much..to say anyone can
play this part is crazy...STOP basically stops the show every night because of him and someone average would not pull this off. To say they could take someone with no real talent to replace him is ridiculous...the only part of this show that does not require much is Aaron to be honest. I think Damian is as important as Janice...and you cant stunt cast her or him..the 6 principles all require real talent..and Kate as Karen is one of the funniest performances....and BTW is RENEE just freakin amazin...I think she is the best REGINA hands down...

I just have to say something about Renee...I saw the show last night. I was absolutely blown away by Renee's performance!! By intermission I had become obsessed with her voice. Then I totally got chills when she started "World Burn". She is just incredible. Kudos to the Mean Girls team, they truly made the perfect decision when they chose her as the next Regina after Taylor. I also have absolutely NO idea how she does those riffs (especially in "Someone Gets Hurt" 8x a week. Definitely agree--my favorite Regina!
Perhaps that rumor was about a new-to-Erika role, or a new musical aiming for Broadway?"
Once Upon a One More Time starts rehearsals in Chicago March 1st-ish. Seems like a good fit.

Roxie and Velma do the narrative of the show and should stop the show with some of their production numbers, but that certainly hasn't stopped Chicago from stunt casting.
Not saying it would be ideal to stunt cast, but there have certainly been far more egregious examples of it.

I don’t think it’s the best idea for them to stunt cast Damian. Tap is difficult to learn and it’s even more difficult to keep up the stamina to tap for even just a little bit. And, as it’s been explained to me, it’s easier to pick up on mistakes by ear so any wrong rhythm is noticeable unless you know how to cover it up.
They could hypothetically stunt cast Janis or Regina with a pop star as both are kind of singing only and their styles are heavy pop. Regina has a lift and Janis as a little bit of a “dance” during Revenge Party but that’s about it.
Adult Woman, Mr. Duvall, Aaron, even Karen are the most viable stunt cast roles. There isn’t much risk associated on putting someone famous in there,
Cady’s voices sit too weird on the voice for a stunt cast to just pop in as her, in my opinion. Gretchen is too much of an acting role and I think my hypothetical options are just too much of a risk that they wouldn’t take right now.

Since it was just announced that she's joining Flying Over Sunset, I can't help but wonder if her replacement announcement is coming sooner rather than later, maybe tomorrow or by the end of next week.

They didn’t announce Jennifer Simard’s replacement until her first show. However, Cady is obviously a much bigger part so I would assume it’s coming soon, but probably not until a week or two before Erika leaves.
Christy Altomare was announced for The Wanderer at Papermill today, so that makes her unlikely to be the next Cady (as much as I would love to see it). I did notice that the Mean Girls instagram follows Laurel Harris. Is it at all possible that she could be the replacement? I know it doesn't make sense that she would leave Jagged Little Pill so soon, but why else would they follow her if she has no relation to the show? She looks a lot like Erika, and we know Laurel can definitely sing the role. I don't know how true this might be, I just wanted to throw it out there.

Everyone is talking about stunt casting... Mr. Duvall is the clear stunt cast character. Like put Sisqo in that role or something if they need to keep the show open.

I feel like Laurel is too old to play a high schooler. I mean she is currently understudying the mom in Jagged Little Pill...

I haven’t actually seen the show, but I wonder if they’d be hesitant to cast someone African American because of Cady having lived in Africa - either concerns that jokes would fall flat or, even worse, seem racist when they’re about a black girl rather than a white one (or Asian or whatever). For example, does I it include the “I’m from Michigan” joke? That doesn’t really work if Cady does look like what people expect someone from Africa to look like.

You're all forgetting the most obvious stunt cast: Tiki Barber as Mr. Duvall.
(kidding)
Personally, I don't think Damien should be stunt casted
Other than tap dancing which has already been discussed, he carries many other parts in the show. And while Where Do You Belong might not be the most complicated choreography, I'd imagine it's hard for just anyone to pick up and still be able to act out Damien's charisma.
Though maybe Grey just does such a good job as Damien that it's hard for me to imagine someone else in the role. (I saw an understudy go on for Damien once and he was amazing, but I didn't feel nearly as charmed by his character as I did with Grey).
I do think the Adult Women track is something that can easily be stunt casted. Mrs. Heron doesn't sing. But Mrs. George does have What's Wrong With Me (reprise), which is more of a comedic bit as opposed to a showstopper, so I wouldn't imagine too much of an uproar if that was lowered an octave if needed. As for Do This Thing, have Cady hold the high note at the end instead of Mrs. Norbury.
