I read somewhere that she was dealing with advanced dementia. Poor thing...hopefully she's at peace now.
What did she pass?
Her driver's test?
A kidney stone?
She'll be missed. Estelle was one of the best!!

That's really a tacky thing to say when someone is trying to express sympathy. Can't you limit your wisecracks to boards dealing with other matters?
KJ is a total ass for saying that.
This woman always made me laugh.

This is a thread about remembrance and respect for an amazing performer who left us too soon.
Please leave the quips and quacks to the other threads dealing with crap and such and reality shows. There's enough of them to leave your wisecrack remark about kidney stones.
You know you've pissed Estelle off and now she's giving you the "eye". You'll probably end up passing a kidney stone the size of a bowling ball and maybe a boil on your butt if we're lucky.

She was indeed a very talented, gifted, caring, and beautiful woman.
She will not soon be forgotten. And she's happy now, and no longer suffering.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.
Sophia is the one person who can cheer me up no matter what mood I'm in, everyday at 9 and 9:30 in the morning. For that, I say thank you Estelle.
Rest well.
This is the saddest news I have heard in a long while... Someone e-mailed me about this at work, it was very upsetting. I was a huge Golden Girls fan.
At least now she can rest in peace, I know she has been suffering for many years now.
Thank you for all the laughs! You will be sorely missed.
I am seriously going to go and revisit my Golden Girls DVD collection.
It's going to be so sad for me to know that Sophia is finally with her Sal and she's no longer with us. But you know as long as Golden Girls continues, she's still around to me.
I know there's been comments from Betty, but has anyone heard anything from Rue or Bea?
She will be missed, she filled many of my saturday mornings here in the UK with Laughter when the Golden Girls was on
May she Rest In Piece and make all the angels laugh XXXx
During the original workshops of 'Dreamgirls' before it opened on Broadway she played a wise cracking old Jewish lady that Effie, now a nurse, took care of to make some money after leaving The Dreams. The part was cut before the show opened on Broadway but due to the contract she signed she was paid for that part for the entire Broadway run. She always said that she used that cheque to pay the phone bill!
What a lady!

It's truly heartbreaking to hear that one of our Golden Girls is no longer with us. We all knew she had been suffering. But in a weird, almost twisted way, it was also good to know all four of the Girls were still with us. We can no longer say that. But we do know that Estelle is now at peace, and her long suffering is over.
Thank you for blessing me with laughter during some of my darkest days, and making my brighter days even brighter.
Picture it. Heaven. 2008.
Thank you for being a friend. We love you.

Tremendous actress who always gave a top quality performance. Replacing her with Anne Bancroft (who I loved too) for Torch Song movie was a big mistake, that was Estelle's role. She was indeed a "golden" girl...RIP
well, for all of those interested, Lifetime(which currently airs Golden Girls episodes), will be doing a tribute to Estelle all day on Friday with a special GG marathon from noon until 5pm(EST).
I've shed quite a few tears over this.
Estelle was my favorite of the Golden Girls, and there is comfort in knowing that if I'm ever feeling down, I can just pop in one of the DVD's and she will make me smile.
Estelle, thanks for brightening up my life. Love you, miss you, and will remember you always.
To a wonderfully comedic woman, who will be dearly missed!
KJ...you are absolutely sick. As someone whose grandfather died of Alzheimer's/Dimentia, I take serious offense. Her struggle is NOT something to be made light of, and her strength and bravery at being able to live with it for as long as she could is astounding. How dare you!?
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
She will be missed. Greatly missed.
I might just be sappy, but this makes me so incredibly sad. I wouldn't have expected to (quite honestly) care this much, even though I was more or less raised on the Golden Girls. But I can't help but shed a few tears. She was just so wonderful and brought such happiness to so many people. No offense to the other girls, but Getty's sardonic, crack-like (crack as in a whip, not crack as in a whitney) delivery was the best thing about the show IMHO. She will be missed by many, but will live on in our minds, hearts, and (thankfully) DVD collections.

A brilliant actress and my favorite on Golden Girls.
The world is a little less golden with Estelle.

Omg. The "My baby is gone" episode. It makes me cry. Brilliant performance.
Sophia: Look Rose, God doesn't make mistakes, we were all put on this planet for a purpose. Blanche, you're here to work in a museum so that art can be appreciated by humanity. Dorothy, you're here as a substitute teacher to educate our youth. And Rose, you're here because the rhythm method was very popular in the 20's.
RIP Estelle.
