How about the "If I Loved You" scene in Carousel. I saw it at the Beaumont Theater in 1994 with Michael Hayden and Sally Murphy. They were phenomenal -- so touching and natural. There's also a wonderful video of that scene from the original production with John Raitt and Jan Clayton.

I thought Kelli O'Hara and Ken Watanabe had really surprising and hot chemistry in The King and I.



But most surprising: Jake Gyllenhaal and Ellen Greene in Little Shop.

This is a bit of an odd answer, but I thought the progression of the chemistry between Judy Kaye and Michael McGrath in NICE WORK was very well done. I literally cheered when they finally got together.

I thought Bernadette Peters and Ron Raines paired well in FOLLIES.

And, of course, Kelli and Paulo in SOUTH PACIFIC.
