Posted: 11/7/13 at 11:38amSad to hear this! But glad I got to see it in September. It's done a decent run for a new musical not based on a book/movie.

I could see this moving to NWS with Eric Ankrim replacing Mr. Levi. It's sad to see this close, it was a fun night at the theater.
I'm not so secretly hoping this opens up Krysta to go be standby for Jasmine in Aladdin (a straight boy can dream dammit)

I saw the show twice and LOVED IT. We were laughing the whole time.
I would go a third time too!
Krysta is just amazing

This post on BWW seemed a little ill-timed right after both shows announced closing this week.

Posted: 11/8/13 at 2:49pmI'm sorry to hear this, but I can't say I'm surprised. I saw the show in August and thought it was cute. The script and score had some clear flaws, but I really enjoyed the performers, a lot of the direction, and I laughed quite a bit. It had a good run.

Posted: 11/8/13 at 3:14pmI think this actually would be great at New World Stages or a similar venue. I did enjoy First Date, but while I was watching it, I was thinking that it has an off-Broadway feel to it. I guess how the small cast played multiple roles made it seem low-budget.

Posted: 11/8/13 at 4:16pmwith the overall lack of available theaters for the spring, I'm guessing any show that's even slightly struggling right now might get pushed out.

Just saw this show- I liked it. I agree with others.. Felt very off broadway. I think it's funny that we can't just let a show close.... We have to wish it a transfer
After seeing this.... I believe I fell in love with Zachary Levi

Posted: 11/9/13 at 5:42pmQuestion for the people who are saying it should go off-Broadway. Do shows that do that usually announce it before it stops its Broadway run or afterwards?

Before this show even started previews I was really hoping it would be a success. I remember reading posts on here that it would close right after it opened. I was lucky enough to be in NYC in August and able to see the show. It was great. On my trip I saw Kinky Boots, Pippin and First Date. I loved all three shows for very different reasons. I think the best way to encourage people to see First Date, is this…..I'm not one to laugh out loud, even if I think something is funny. I guess you could call me an "inside laugher" (I just made that up, I think). I was actually laughing out loud! It was very funny!! After it was over, I once again became a huge theatre dork (at 43) and stage doored it. Every one of those cast members were beyond nice. Can't even say enough kind words about each one. Considering you can buy a regular price seat for $35, almost everyone should be able to afford a night out to see this show. Two months to go! And considering most of what I read 3 and 4 months was basically negative, I'm really glad to see this show will have made it till January!

Posted: 11/10/13 at 8:17pmSo, my sisters and I are planning on seeing the show next weekend. They don't get to see many broadway shows (they've each seen one or two) but we all love Zac Levi and so we are going. How are the balcony seats? Should we book in advance and sit up there or try our luck at TKTS?

Posted: 11/10/13 at 9:17pmTry your luck at TKTS. The way the stage is set up can be obstructing from the balcony. I loved the show. Sad to see it go.

Posted: 11/11/13 at 2:12amIn response to the last question. I say, if you can get in for $35, go for it. You are in the door! If you TKTS it you'll have a better seat, but it will be around $70. Now…if you are a member of tdf.org and buy tickets, you get best available for $49. Look in to becoming a member. Depending where you live dictates your annual free. My fee per year is $10. If you qualify and apply asap, you'll most likely end up with better seats, for cheaper through tdf.org

Posted: 11/11/13 at 2:36amOh, wow, I didn't realize tdf was that cheap. My annual fee would be $12. And the seats are best available?

Turns out TDF is selling for the day we are going, but I signed up anyways cause I can still use it for other shows, so thank you for pointing me that way.
Does anyone know where the rush seats for First Date are located? I'm not a student anymore, sadly, but my sisters are, so they could get their tickets that way.
