hey amoni ( I wish you all used real names, but, oh well)
don't you worry about me! And get that damn finger outa my face!!
My confidence level is past orange and into full red alert level. No one's opinion bugs me. It's the blue meanies who berate others that make me sad. These folks who actually get bent outa shape cause someone in the world (heaven forbid!) says something nice to someone else.
And I don't use my middle name, I don't like it, and I ain't telling it to you or anyone else!

LOL! Marc and Mateo! Don't be holding your breath for that video. Its bad enough that I'm dancing and singing while I'm driving kids around. If I try to throw videoing into the mix we might havw a problem!!
Mateo...I have a little Thank you for your blog" present for you!

don;t buy the physical CD. download it on itunes or something. THat would be very GREEN of us if we did it that way.
It's bad for the enviornment...not to mention the gas we're wasting and oils on trucks being used to ship those cd's.
(and im not happy about John Travolta at ALL)
ill. ill.
but i DO want to say how I love all of the new orchestrations.
THe music and lyrics are AMAZING..
they always were and they transcend time..
but John Travolta is the weakest link for me..and next Queen Latifah.
even though it's 'good'...there is no soul involved. and she can't act for shizzles.
she is the same barbershop, beautyshop, bringin down the house...bland expressionless person on everything she does. total bore.
i still don't understand why Diana Degarmo wasn't cast in the film as Penny if they wanted to lure the teenpop idol kids to the theatre. amanda bynes?!?!?!??! UGGH
(but i love the music) still
:P

I want to hear I CAN WAIT. Anybody know where I can hear it??
Mm, John and my wonderful Queen are two of the highlights for me.
Queen Latifah is a Goddess in my eyes.
I just listened to it . . . loved it, but was mostly impressed by James. I remember when he sang in Ally McBeal. He sounds great.
This soundtrack is beautiful. I was thinking it would not live up to the OBCR, but, man, is it wonderful! Mama I'm a Big Girl Now- LOL
******SPOILERS*****
Watch me flyyyy
show off
Harvey's: such a big, big, goil
And the: Go ricki, go ricki, go ricki.
LOVE IT. IN LOVE WITH IT.
I want to buy in for everyone in the world so they can feel the fun and happiness. Love you, Marc.
um, thanks, but I'd update and put a big SPOILER at the top of your post, or someone's gonna get very mad!!
(but thank you so much!!)
Damn you unemployment checks and bills. I won't be able to get it for another few weeks But, I am going to see the movie on opening day.
Oh, and "Ladies Choice" better be nominated for the "Best Original Song" Oscar or there will be hell to pay. Oh, and also I better be asked to sing it on stage with Zach. That is all!
I hope it is, but I hope Come So Far wins!

I don't want to read through this whole thread to see if my question has been asked so in the event that it has already been asked, I am sorry.
Is it me or does it sound like they took actual audio clips from the film and inserted them in the songs? For example when Tracy and Penny talk in Baltimore Crabs it sounds like it is an audio clip from the film, same with the beginning of Welcome to the 60's.
you are correct.
Its lifted dialogue.

Ehhh that kind of bugs me. I don't like how it doesn't "fit" with the rest of the song.
You know what I mean?

I am confused maybe Mateo you can clarify this.
Which songs were written for the film?
Wasn't New Girl written for it but was it cut?
"Ladies' Choice"
"Big Blonde & Beautiful (reprise)"
"I Can Wait" (ultimately cut)
"Come So Far"
were all written for the film.
"New Girl In Town" was written for the Broadway show, but cut.

Thank You!
Where was I Can Wait supposed to go?
Does Brittany Snow not have a song now?

Marc-
Your new arrangement of Miss Baltimore Crabs is absolutely FANTASTIC! That song alone is reason enough for me to buy the cd. I was so worried that I wouldnt be open to the new changes, but that song is just so sexy and fun, I absolutely adore it. You better believe I will be driving around CT this summer with that blasting from the speakers of my Scion. Haha, thank you so much for it!
Next weekend is gonna rock! Hairspray movie on the 20th, then my b-day and Gypsy on the 21st!
"I Can Wait" was to take place in Penny's basement after "I Know Where I've Been" and before 'Without Love."
Brittany does not have a solo.
I got the CD on the 9th and pretty much haven't stopped listening to it since!
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofuI hear ya!
I've been listening to the recording non-stop as well. I really like the orchestrations. It's nice to see they used a lot of people from the Broadway and touring companies (i.e., Jenn Gambatese, Leslie Kritzer, Donna Vivino, Shoshana Bean, Michael Cunio, etc.) of Hairspray as background vocalists (names listed in booklet).
I thought that was cool as well. I get more excited for the movie by the minuet!

I'm going to a screening on Monday (which I'm leaving work a couple of hours early just to stand in line to make sure I get in).
I keep listening to:
Come So Far
Cooties
Mama and
I Can Wait over and over again.
