What an amazing run!!! The era of jukebox musicals appears to be dwindling slowly: Mamma Mia!, Jersey Boys, and not too far off will be On Your Feet! Congrats to all involved in this wonderful production!!!

The press release says Mark Ballas has taken a year off from DWTS, any chance he'd headline the JB tour following his Broadway run??

I am sad that Jersey Boys is closing it is the only jukebox musical I have ever liked. I am glad it had a good run though!

The writing has been on the wall forever, but still, my heart sunk when I read the headline. What an absolutely amazing run. It's the crown jewel of the jukebox musical.

My heart sunk as well. What a great run!

It's had an amazing run, but it's time to go. I'm sure the theater is being highly fought over right now with any new show trying to start up in the Spring.

It's time, but it had an awesome run. Congrats to all involved.

A dozen years is an incredible feat! Helluva show!
Though, I'm left to ponder what's next for the August Wilson?

Like it or not, it can't be denied that Jersey Boys paved the way for countless other musicals. Their run brought joy to millions and employed countless actors, crew members, and front of house personnel. It did it's job.

I guess Hogan can finally stop telling us how safe Jersey Boys is in every weekly gross thread.

Saw it for the third time about a month ago...... still in great shape, if a tad relaxed. I teared up at the end of "Cry for me" because the four boys sounded AMAZING together. It was one of those special moments in time and space that will never be re-created.
Congrats on an amazing run, Jersey Boys!!

I unabashedly love this show. While the Broadway production never captured my heart (that goes to the also soon-to-be-closing Vegas production), I'm going to have to squeeze this one in a few more times.

Not a fan of the show by any means (which I guess is sacrilegious since I was born and raised in the towns where the show takes place), but it had a great run. It introduced many of my friends and families to theater and for that I'm thankful.

Oh wow! Just yesterday I was discussing what an amazing run this show has been having and now today they set a closing date?!?!?!
As far as jukebox musicals go this one raised the bar - - - and deserved every bit of it's success.
So sad to see it go.

What on earth are you talking about?
I probably posted about this show 3 times, in each case in reaction to someone (maybe it was you) who said the show was at death's door, something that it clearly was not and is not considering that it is still scheduled to run for another 4+ month. Is there something wrong with calling someone out on their false claim? I couldn't care less about this show. I saw it once and, as rehearsed here many times, wish there were no jukebox musicals. But numbers are a funny thing, and when folks read them wrong I am going to correct them. Sorry if that bugs you.

Holy defensiveness, Batman. Just was pointing out that there were several weeks in a row where the "Jersey Boys' closing is imminent" topic came up, and you pointed out that the grosses didn't warrant closing. And I agreed with you. Never said your comments were unwarranted or unnecessary, just that the conversation won't be happening anymore, and I'm fine with it.

I had the good fortune to see the show at the La Jolla Playhouse before it went to Broadway. It really did seem special at the time. And it did not seem to need any work. I had never felt that way about any other local production. When I later saw the show on Broadway, I had a difficult time noticing any changes. It was just a fine show from the very beginning.
What a great run!

This show definitely holds a special place in my heart. I really think Beautiful took a lot of its audience as it targets the same demographic. The last time I saw it was ruined by the women behind me singing along and telling me to relax when I asked them to stop, but I was also charmed by the other people in the audience who were brought such genuine joy from this show. It really was infectious. I will definitely be adding this to my list of shows to see in the next few months.

I've seen this show all over the world, and Broadway is the only place where an audience member has talked back to me after shushing them. Makes me want to make a trite joke about Jersey attitude.

Where is the press release that says this? It's not in the BWW or Playbill version.

I wonder how that fan who has seen the show 600 times, or some large sum, is holding up.
